News from the Principal
Dear St. John Families,
I am excited for our students to showcase their hard work and talents this evening at our annual Christmas Program! There are many to thank, but I would like to especially thank Mrs. Erin Burris, Ms. Elyse Angelo, Mr. Robert Noble, Mrs. Maggie Fuchs and Mr. Ricardo Doroteo. All of these individuals have made a big impact in the success of our program! Thank you for your dedication to our students and school!
I also want to thank our SJN School faculty and staff for their help and support in preparing for the program. At what might be the absolute worst timing, I have been ill the past two days, and our staff has come together to support each other and keep things moving in my absence.
Please remember that our front four pews will be reserved for families who purchased them at our Eat, Shop & Be Thankful Event! We will also welcome a videographer to film the program this evening for an upcoming promotional video for our school. Please see the additional information below if you have any questions. I hope to be well enough to celebrate our students and see you at the big show!
Sincerely,
Natalie Johnson
Principal

The Middle School gift exchange will be a crazy sock exchange. The socks could go to either a boy or girl, depending upon the outcome of the game we play to exchange the gifts. We encourage you to spend no more than $10 on the socks. Please send your sock gift wrapped to school with your student on the morning on 12/21.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to get AR buttons made for distribution this week. We will recognize students earning AR buttons next Tuesday, December 19. Thank you for your understanding!

It's Book Fair Time!
Dear Parents and Families:
Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:
- Set the example. Let children see you read.
- Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep up with changing tastes and reading skills.
- Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.
Book Fair dates: December 7-15
Shopping hours: Each day after school until 4:00 pm
Special activities: We will be open after the Christmas Program!
If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at scholastic.com/fair. Our Online Fair is available from December 5 to December 11.
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Natalie Johnson
Principal

Service Project
Hello, my name is Charlie. I am working on my St. Katherine Drexel patch for American Heritage Girls. I am organizing a service project, and was wondering if you would like to help? I am collecting toothbrushes, toothbrush cases, toothpaste, and socks for Positive Tomorrows, the homeless school in Oklahoma City. The amount of students changes day-to-day the most students they have ever had is 74. Your donations would help the children and are greatly appreciated. You can drop them off in the drop boxes located by the office and in the middle school hallway. I will pick up donated items Friday, December 21st.
Thank you for donating!

Advent Journey
POSTER 4: My Soul Magnifies the Lord
Most of us listen to a lot of music during the Christmas season. Mary, Jesus’ mother, also liked to sing. But her “Christmas” song sounded a little different from ours. After Mary found out she was going to be the mother of Jesus, she sang a song called a canticle, a hymn of praise to God. Mary’s song didn’t mention angels or mangers or stars or silent nights. Instead, she sang about the kind of world God wants us all to live in: a world where everyone has enough to eat, where leaders treat people fairly, and where rich people share what they have with poor people. Imagine what kind of Christmas the world would have this year if everything Mary sang about became a reality!
Scripture found in poster: Luke 1:46b-55; Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11
