From Dr. Gruman
Dear Northwest Families,
The winter time is very busy for our students and staff as they work hard to have a strong finish to semester one and open semester two looking ahead to course enrollments for 23-24 school year. Please reach out if you need support or have questions during this time.
Our goal this year is to share updates about enrollment in short chunks through the next several newsletters. Below is the general overview of the enrollment process and upcoming events:
- Enrollment process begins in January to meet our timelines to finalize staffing allocations by the end of February.
- Class sections are determined by the number of student course requests for a given class. Staff are then allocated to departments based on sections needed to meet student requests. Students need to select their classes and alternates purposefully as we may not have openings in other classes for schedule changes.
- Course Exploration Tour - During seminar on January 17th, students will visit six different teachers to learn about courses of interest to them. This is a great time to learn about future electives or a core class and ask questions. Sessions are available for each class we offer in our master schedule.
- Sophomore Information Session in TCB on Dec. 15th. Sophomores will report to the auditorium during TCB time on Dec. 15th to receive an overview of programs available for their junior and senior enrollment. A panel of their peers in 11th and 12th grades will share their experiences across the wide variety of programs they have selected for their coursework.
Have a wonderful weekend!
All the best,
Dr. Lisa Gruman
Thank you for supporting our gift card drive
Our Student Services department would like to thank everyone who donated gift cards to benefit our families here at Northwest. We would like to especially thank our PTSA, Secret Samaritans, and Parents in Action groups. This has been such a fun, easy, and respectful way to help families this holiday season.
