IN THE KNOW! Information to Plan By....

I APPRECIATE the effort in the building around engaging our students in learning!!!! As we get closer to the holidays, we begin to see increases in our students "behaviors". This is attributed to several factors- excitement about the holidays, anxiety about being home for 17 days, or other reasons. It is important to maintain routine and engagement until the time we leave for break. Our students thrive on consistency!!

PLC's this week will focus on setting goals for your students. Now that we have our School Improvement Goals and are rich in Benchmark and progress monitoring data, we need to let our students know where they are and where they need to go. If you are doing this in your classroom, bring it along. If not, we will talk about how we can do this student by student, skill by skill.

Continue to focus on the components of gradual release in your lessons, particularly on the focus of your lesson. What do you want them to learn? How do you model this for students? How do you allow them to practice what you are teaching? How do you know they are getting it??

Our fourth through sixth grade students will be involved in Science and Social Studies Benchmark Testing this week. Please see the attached schedule for your class.

Santa Shop will be open for students beginning on Monday, Dec. 4th. Please see Ms. Sedam and Ms. Stackhouse for information.

Round 2 of the evidence upload is due by January 4, 2015. This means you need two (2) more pieces of evidence for at least three (3) more indicators. Please make sure your evidence matches the indicator and rating you give yourself.

Our winter program will be held on December 17th from 9:30-10:30. I hope we look forward to a multicultural celebration of the holiday season!!!
