Tuesday, September 6th - First Day of School
Teachers will meet students on the Roosevelt School playground at 8:35 AM.
Cones will be set up on the playground for students to line up by homeroom teacher.
Our Roosevelt School Opening Day Ceremony will take place on the front lawn (Brooks Blvd.) Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us as we celebrate the new school year!
Students will be dismissed on the North 4th Ave. side of the building. Dismissal cones will be setup by grade level and teacher. Arrival/dismissal procedure information can be found below.
Additional information: There is no SNACK TIME at Roosevelt School - we encourage students to eat a healthy breakfast at home OR purchase breakfast at school. Snacks items are available for purchase during lunchtime. Roosevelt School does have water bottle refill stations - students are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles to school. All personal items should be clearly labeled with student's first/last name. Homerooms are helpful too!
Daily Arrival Procedures
Students attending the breakfast program should arrive no earlier than 8:25 AM and are to enter the building immediately upon arrival on the North 4th Avenue side of the building. A staff member will be at the door at 8:25 AM. Students should report directly to the Multipurpose Room (MPR). All other students should report at 8:35 AM.
During arrival, all students will be required to enter the building using the North 4th Avenue entrance. Parents may utilize the school side of North 4th Avenue as a “Drop & Go”. Students can be dropped off as soon as they are on the school sidewalk. Parents are asked to immediately and safely pull away. Parents SHOULD NOT be waiting for their child to enter the building in the “Drop & Go” line. All other parents should utilize the parking lot to park and walk their child to the crossing guard.
Doors will close immediately at 8:45 AM. Any student arriving to school after 8:45 AM must be signed in by a parent/guardian to the Main Office on North 5th Avenue.
All students are required to immediately enter the building upon arrival.
Students should NOT be dropped off to the school playground in the mornings or on the North 4th Ave. side of the building before 8:25 AM. There is NO SUPERVISION of children prior to 8:25 AM OR AFTER 3:20 PM.
Daily Dismissal Procedures
Students will be dismissed between 3:10 PM and 3:20 PM.
Students may only exit the building from the North 4th Avenue doors.
Parents/Guardians are required to pick up students from their classroom teachers at their designated area. If someone other than the parent/guardian is going to pick up please notify your child’s teacher. The adult picking up must be on the Genesis pick up list and present identification (ID).
Students will begin to be dismissed after the 3:10 PM bell. Parents should meet their children outside the building on either sidewalk. DO NOT block entrance/exit doors, stay off the dismissal blacktop area and grassy hill, and avoid blocking the stairs since this can cause a hazard for the students.
All teachers will escort their students out of the building and make sure the student connects with their ride, unless written permission to walk home or to a designated site has been documented on the general dismissal form in Genesis.
If a student does not connect with an adult by 3:20 PM, they will be taken inside to a designated area. The parent will have to come to the Main Office on North 5th Avenue to sign out and pick up their child.
No student may be dismissed to a parent from a classroom. If you need to pick up a child from school prior to 3:00 PM, please contact the Main Office and your child’s teacher. Students will need to be signed out/picked up from the Main Office.
For the safety of our students and families, it is important that you obey the No Parking signs and cross only at the corner where the Crossing Guard is stationed. Please park in the lot adjacent to North 4th Avenue.
Genesis Parent Portal/Free & Reduced Lunch Applications
Please be advised that breakfast and lunch are NOT FREE this school year! Both breakfast and lunch are available to purchase daily. Our doors at Roosevelt School open at 8:25 AM on North 4th Ave. for students who are purchasing breakfast.
As we know, children need healthy meals to learn. While the Manville School District offers healthy meals every school day for a price (see Manville School District Website for price details), some children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. The application can be accessed by logging into your Genesis Parent Portal account, going to the Forms tab and clicking on the Apply button under Online Lunch Application. For questions and assistance regarding the Lunch Application Process, please contact Jamie Chaya in the Business office at 908-231-8500 x 8503 or jchaya@manvillesd.org.
❗Students will be using their Student ID# when purchasing breakfast, lunch, and/or snacks. Please work with your child to have them memorize this number AND remind them not to share this number with anyone. Student ID#s are available through Genesis. Our lunch assistants will be available to help students in case they forget their ID#. It is also important to have a conversation with your child about whether or not they are purchasing breakfast - lunch - snack daily. If you do NOT want your child to purchase snack, feel free to reach out to Aramark - our food service provider - to make a note in the system and avoid any unwanted purchases.
