Reading Junior High Longhorns
Message from your Principal
Our last Sunday newsletter of the year- who would have believed that we would arrive at this point and time during such a whirlwind year and still be standing strong and seeing just how far we have come together? It has truly been a team effort from everyone involved- teachers, staff, parents, community and especially our kids. I like to think that the challenges they faced this year and how well they handled themselves will be a positive influence on what is ahead for them.
The celebrations for academic achievement and students of the year last week were by far one of my favorite moments of the year. Just hearing what teachers said about their students and seeing how much this meant to both the kids and staff made this year's hurdles worth it.
I do look forward to next year- so many school experiences are being planned and we are going to pull out all of the stops to ensure 21-22 is filled with learning at high levels, engaging activities and creating a culture where students, parents and staff are Longhorn Strong!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for....Sending us the BEST of the BEST! Enjoy your summer!

LCISD Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Procedure
Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Procedures
This month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amended their COVID-19 quarantine guidance to allow two shorter options for the quarantine period.
Beginning Jan. 4, 2021, Lamar CISD will update the District’s COVID-19 quarantine guidelines based on this guidance from the CDC, as well as guidance from TEA and UIL. Please see the updated quarantine procedures below. This update does not impact individuals with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test.
Individuals identified as being exposed to an individual with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 positive test will be quarantined based on the following:
- 10 days after the last close contact, so long as they continue to monitor themselves daily for symptoms and take appropriate precautions through day 14
- 7 days after the last close contact, after receiving a negative test result (administered at least 5 days after the last close contact), so long as they continue to monitor themselves daily for symptoms and take appropriate precautions through day 14
Lamar CISD employees who return to work from these shorter quarantine windows should regularly monitor themselves to ensure they remain symptom-free and take appropriate precautions for the duration of the 14-day incubation period. Individuals who develop symptoms at any time during the 14-day incubation period should not report to work or school.
