Kindergarten - November 16-20, 2015
F. L. Moffett Primary School
Monday - November 16, 2015
One of the things we are celebrating this week is Game and Puzzle Week.
We played a game about feeding a sneaky squirrel. It uses a spinner and acorns with colored tops. Games are a fun way to build skills including recognizing numbers, counting, beginning addition and subtraction, social skills (such as taking turns and following directions), and simple strategic-thinking skills.
While we played the game, we listened to Native American music that had a rain stick playing In the background.
Tuesday - November 17, 2015
We are celebrating Thanksgiving all week long. Today, we had Thanksgiving lunch in the cafeteria. One of the books we heard was "Giving Thanks : a Native American Good Morning Message" by Jake Swamp.
We toured the Library and saw things about Native Americans on the piano.
Wednesday - November 18, 2015
This week Kindergarten finished an acrostic poem called "Thanksgiving". Every class had a line in the poem.
We enjoyed Mr. Turkey, who has a feather in his tail for every letter in the alphabet.
Each letter shares something about Thanksgiving.
Thursday - November 19, 2015
Today, we learned about a game with a dog who likes to eat bones. The game helps to learn counting and number skills.
We helped read the book, "Turkey Trouble" written by Wendi Silvano and illustrated by Lee Harper. The disguises Turkey used to try and fool Farmer Jake were really funny. In the end, Turkey came up with an interesting solution to his problem that pleased everyone in the book.
Friday - November 20, 2015
During Library today we heard the book, "Turkey Trouble". The author, Wendi Silvano, also wrote a Halloween and Christmas book about the same turkey. He is always trying to solve an interesting problem.
We listened to Native American music.
