Swansboro Elementary
November 15, 2020
Tomorrow kicks of American Education Week. Let's take a few minutes each day to show our gratitude for living in a country that values education for everyone. Even amid a global pandemic, we are seeking ways to continue to make educating all children a top priority. If you are grateful for your teacher, send them an email or write them a letter this week to let them know you appreciate them! They truly are doing an amazing job staying flexible and positive during these ever changing times. Wednesday is National Education Support Professionals Day. We would like to recognize Mrs. Kidd, Mrs. Monk, Mrs. Gibbons, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Rigsbee for all that they do you our students! Our Pirates couldn't be successful without their support! Friday is Substitute Educator's Day. Thank you to everyone that serves as a substitute at our school. Many of you are here often enough to be staff members! We truly couldn't do it without you. Swing by the office this week to pick up your gift of appreciation. If anyone is interested in becoming a substitute for our school, please let us know and we will be glad to discuss this process with you. We are always in need of substitute teachers, especially during the pandemic.
Tomorrow at 7 pm, MPAC Lejeune will be hosting a WebEx meeting for SBES parents on Identifying How Children Learn. Any parent can join. Please see the flier below for more details on how to register for this webinar. On Tuesday interim reports will go home with students. Please sign and return them. That means the grading period is halfway over. Now is the perfect time to make sure that your child is completing work in a timely manner. Don't wait until it is too late to become concerned about your child's grades. Friday is Sweeter Things Ice Cream Shack Spirit Night (after school–8:00 pm.) They have a new coffee bar as well. Check it out! Don't forget that our Virtual Scholastic Book Fair is open through November 22. Books are great gifts that keep on giving:) Speaking of gifts, if you would like to order an SBES sweatshirt and have it back before we leave for winter break, you must order it by November 18th. You can make your purchase through School Cash Online. Look for the shopping cart on our school's website. Also be sure to check out the revised OCS Elementary school calendar. There are several changes. Last but not least, thank you to One Harbor Church for providing pizza to our staff. It is great to feel loved and supported by our wonderful community.
