When the miners had to survive several thousand feet below the surface of the earth in a pitch black constant 90-degree cave with barely any food and water to get by they survived, it tested them to a breaking point but they all made it out. They didn't sit back and get sad about the chances of them ever getting back out to see their friends and family again. They sucked it up and made the most of what they had. They Were starving when they were finally found but they managed to stay alive. They made it across leaps and bounds to get out but they managed it.
