Pearls
Welcome back to the new school year! Pearl’s children have had two very busy weeks in school. We have all settled into school routines well and we have been exploring and learning in our classroom and outside area. We have been practising our cutting skills, exploring capacity in the water tray, helping people in our ‘Doctors Surgery’ and making potions using herbs, lemons and limes in the mud kitchen.
We have also started our new theme ‘People Who Help Us’ and we have been listening to stories and talking about how key workers can help us and how some people work during the night. We will be learning about recycling next week.
Rubies
In Maths we have been re-capping our knowledge on numbers up to 100 and exploring all the ways we can get to 100. We have even started learning the 2 times table :)
In English we have used thesauruses for the first time and enjoyed working as a group to change our language in our writing to make it amazing!
We have also spent lots of time singing songs in music, learning new moves in PE and thinking about why we are special in Jigsaw (PSHE).
Diamonds
In Science, we will be learning all about Light. To start our topic we have been identifying what we already know and posing questions about what we would like to find out.
In Maths, we have been examining place value in 3 or 4-digit numbers. Why not try testing us at home and see if we can tell you how many hundreds, tens or ones make up a number.
Sapphires
In Maths, we have begun to look at place value as well as recapping our times tables.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is our focus in English and we have been looking at character descriptions of Mr Potts.
Goole Academy also paid us a visit to tell us all about Secondary School and gave us the opportunity to ask lots of questions.
School Council
Clubs
Please note children are to be collected from the car park gate.

Friday Book Bags
Each week, 2 or 3 children will be chosen in each class to have the opportunity to bring home a Friday book bag. Within these are a little task such as our Poetry bags which the children can use as a stimulus for a piece of art. All of the equipment they will need is included and there is also a tasty treat inside which they can enjoy. We ask that book bags with all items (other than edible ones) are returned with the work your child produced by the following Wednesday. Their work will be displayed in a special class book in the hall and shared with all of the children in our Celebration Assembly. You can also take photos to add to their work which we will happily print off for you if uploaded to Seesaw/Tapestry.
Each pack includes instructions but please see the teaching team if you have any further questions.
Knowledge Organisers, Medium Term Plans, Book Warmers and Welcome Information
It was lovely to see so many of you at Welcome Night. Much of the information is now on our class pages and can be accessed on the buttons below. If you would like to catch up with any of the teaching team then please give us a call or drop us an email and we will happily arrange this for you.
Tapestry and Seesaw
Seesaw is our home learning platform for Years 1 to 6. Here children can log their reading and also see other key information and home learning such as spellings.
If you are having problems connecting then please speak to a member of your child's class team or email the office and we will be more than happy to help.

Cooking for Help the Homelezz
The children love cooking especially for a worthy cause and soon will be starting to grow their own produce again for future meals. Our allotment is looking sad after two years of Covid and Governor, Mrs Beadle, and the children would love any green fingered help in clearing the allotment ready for growing. If you would like to help please let a member of the team know.
Cooking dates for Autumn:
Rubies 27th September
Diamonds 20th October
Sapphires 29th November
Pearls will then cook in January.
Keep an eye out for photos!
P.E
Pearls (2 Year Olds, Nursery and Reception) - Tuesdays
Rubies (Years 1 & 2) - Tuesdays and Fridays
Diamonds (Years 3 & 4) - Mondays and Wednesdays
Sapphires (Years 5 & 6) - Mondays and Fridays
P.E kit should be a white t-shirt, and black shorts or jogger bottoms in colder weather. Children can bring a hoodie/jumper for colder months which should be plain black/navy/ red or can be one of our school hoodies.
Please note that jewellery should not be worn for P.E due to Health and Safety reasons. If your child has their ears pierced then please help them to remove their earrings on a morning before school if possible on P.E days.
School Uniform
This should consist of a red jumper/cardigan/school hoodie, white polo-shirt/shirt and black or grey skirt/trousers/shorts. Summer dresses or black/grey pinafore dresses can also be worn. Shoes should be black. Please avoid wearing trainers - if worn these must be black. Our uniform policy is available on the school website.
School logos do not need to be worn but if you would like to order logo uniform then please contact the school office.
Book bags can also be purchased from the school office.
If you think you are eligible for free school meals even if your child does not want school dinners then please do apply as we can offer support with uniform and free P.E kit. Mrs Risebury will happily explain how to do this so please feel free to give her a call.
Reading Rewards
Children earns reads for each day that they read at home/are read to at home. Only one read is counted each day.
This half-term the levels for reading will be as follows:
Bronze - 18 reads
Silver - 24 reads
Gold - 36 reads
Reading clubs are worth 3 reads and these will be start in Week 2.
Reads can be logged on Tapestry, Seesaw or on paper. We prefer reading logged online and ideally as a voice note or video so that staff can hear their reading and comment back. If your child is younger sharing a story with them counts as a read this means that it is accessible to all.
Our last reward was great fun with bouncy castles and lots of water!
Out of School Achievements
