Pirate Points from Mrs. Lee's Class
Week of August 22, 2013
Off to a Great Start!
I am so excited about the great start that we have had this week. It was so nice meeting so many parents at Pirate Meet and Greet! All 21 smiling faces have adjusted really well to 1st grade and are already hard at work!
We eat lunch at 11:30 so we have a lot of grumbly tummies mid-morning. Please send a snack with your child each day. This will need to be a snack that he/she can eat quickly while in guided reading rotations. Make sure it is nothing messy or nothing requiring utensils. Also, your child may bring a water bottle each day for snack and recess. Please make sure that it is just water.
Thanks to all of you for sending in supplies from the district list. These supplies will be used for various ways in our classroom. I supplied purple vinyl folders/pencil pouches for the Daily Folder so they would all be the same color. The folders and pouches your child brought in will be used for writing workshop.
Shoe Tying Practice
We have a lot of kids that cannot tie shoes. Please work on this over the next few weeks at home. We stay really busy in our classroom so I rarely have a moment to stop and help with shoes. At the end of September, we will have a shoe tying contest and each child that can tie with get a treat!
What We Are Learning
We are really focusing on procedures and routines the first few weeks to make sure our classroom runs smoothly this year. Specific standards and skills will be listed beginning in next week's Pirate Points.
