FRITZ POLLARD
Pollard organized the Chicago Black Hawks to show that black and whites can get along with each other. He was the first black person to play In the Rose Bowl at the end of the 1915 season. He became the first black coach and quarterback in the formative days of the NFL. Fritz broke racial barriers while achieving distinction on the Football gridiron. Fritz Pollard was inducted in the 2005 pro Football HALL OF FAME.
BILL RUSSELL
Bill Russell was born on February 12 1934, in Monroe Louisiana. Bill capped his
amateur career by leading the U.S. men's Basketball team to the gold medal at the 1956 Melbourne. In 2010 Russell received the presidential medal of FREEDOM, the County's highest civil honor from OBAMAH. In the 1969 season, Russell led the Celtics to an eighth consecutive title. Bill Russell was inducted into the Naismith memorial Basketball HALL OF FAME in 1975.
