Monthly Happenings

Thank you for attending Parent Teacher Conferences this month. Our second Parent Teacher Conference night is coming up this Thursday the 16th, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you. If you were not able to attend a parent teacher conference please contact your child's teacher to arrange an alternate time.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, and we will be having individual class activities/parties in classrooms in the afternoon. The PTO will be providing donuts for students in the afternoon.

Please NOTE: NO DELIVERIES. Unfortunately, we will NOT be accepting deliveries for students. It is too disruptive to the educational process throughout the day, and students are not allowed on the bus with flowers/vases/balloons, etc. So, please keep your Valentine gifts for your students at home for them to enjoy after school. Thank you!

One District, One Book is going strong, and ends Friday, February 24th. Please continue reading A Dog's Porpoise with your student, and answer the daily trivia questions. This is a great way to build a love for reading! Let's work together to make our district a community of readers.

Messages to Students at the End of the School Day:

Messages to be delivered to your student by the end of the school day MUST be called in to the office/school by 1:00 p.m. AT THE LASTEST, in order to give staff time to deliver all messages to teachers/students before we dismiss at 2:05 p.m. As you can imagine, the end of the day is extremely busy with many moving parts, so we appreciate your help!

From the Principal

It's hard to believe it's already the middle of February! This has been a fantastic school year, and I want to thank you all for your involvement and support! Our Bunker students and families are truly amazing! Please take time to review the attached Bunker Parent Pick-up/Drop-off Procedures, as we work to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Also, just a reminder that it is COLD outside! We do still go out to recess when the wind chill is above zero (precipitation permitting). Please be sure to send your students to school bundled up with coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc.

Counselor's Corner

Brrr, my Bunker Family, I really hope you stayed warm these past few weeks!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our winter clothing drive, it really helped put some warm boots and coats on little bodies who needed them. If you have some students in your home who need a coat, boots, or snowpants, and you are having a hard time providing them, please reach out to myself or their teacher and we might be able to reach that need!

Did you know that D91 is able to help some struggling families with food for student lunches on the weekends? Households with children in Head Start, or receiving SNAP and TAFI benefits automatically qualify for weekend student sack lunch assistance through our Ready-Set-Go program and loving donations from our community. Please reach out to me if you are struggling with food insecurity, I may be able to help.

As we all know, students with full bellies are students who are able to focus on learning, able to manage their emotional stress, and are more successful in problem solving safely.

Sincerely and with love,

Debra Nelson,

Theresa Bunker Elementary School Counselor

This months safety note is all about our student Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures. After reviewing the current system, our safety committee has revised and made a few changes. We appreciate your help in following these changes. Let's all work together to keep our Bunker Family safe and happy! Thanks for all your help!
