Mrs. McDaniel's Memo
Friday, September 25th
We continue to work on our Daily 5 stations. Please know that students have 3 stations that they visit each Monday- Thursday. The stations that your child might need to finish at home for homework would be: writing, grammar, and poetry. Students need to stay on track and work independently while I read with a small groups.
It is important to stress with your child about staying focuses and on task. All station work is due on Fridays. If you find on Thursdays they are bringing homework home in terms of literacy that is a clue that they are socializing instead of working during this time. I had a handful of students working at recess today due to their incomplete station work. Students have more than enough time to complete these activities in class.
This week we took time to write a fall narrative about what they like to do when it gets cold. These will be hanging in the hallway very soon.
Home Writing Journals-
Don't forget that September's Home Writing Journals are due next Thursday.
We have had a detailed focus on nouns over the past two weeks. We will wrap it up next week with collective and abstract nouns and then move on to the 4 types of sentences.

Wednesday is our annual Jog-a-Thon. Students will get their shirts early next week to wear the day of the event. Make sure that students wear comfortable running shoes. We will participate in the afternoon starting at 1:20. Water will be provided. It might be a good idea to apply sunscreen that morning or have your child wear a hat.
Don't forget to send in your donations for this fundraiser.
