Principal's Message
Dear Parents:
I am hopeful that this email finds you healthy and happy as we finish our first 2022 week in school. We have had a great two days back at Alcova!
However, we recognize that circumstances with the current uncertain times can change quickly. In an effort to be as ready as possible, we have developed a device readiness plan that will roll out today, Friday, January 7th. This will enable us to make sure that all students who have no access to a device at home, have one in their hands before they leave school on Friday afternoon. With that said, please know that we have enough devices for every child to have their own personal Alcova device if needed, and we ask that you review the information below.
- Do you have a device that your child could use for digital day(s) that has access to the Internet? (I.e. tablet, laptop, Chromebook, desktop computer, etc.)
- If “yes,” your child can use that device to access his/her teachers’ eCLASS course pages should there be a need for a digital day. You may notify your child's teacher if during this time they no longer need the loaned device.
- If “no,” your child will be provided with a device to bring back and forth to school each day until further notice if you have completed the Parent/Student Device Check Out Form.
Please note, students without the form will not be permitted to bring their device home, therefore, if you are in need, please see your teacher to complete the process. Students need their device at school for classwork and assessments, so please make sure students bring their devices each day.
As a reminder: Parents are responsible for lost or damaged devices and students are expected to use loaned devices for school use only and in accordance with GCPS Acceptable Use Policy guidelines.
We look forward to having a fantastic second semester! Your support is greatly appreciated!
In case you haven't heard, there is a pretty big sporting event on Monday Night! UGA will take on Alabama in the College Football National Championship. Since UGA has not won a National Championship in about 40 years, it will be a really big deal in our area with so many UGA and a few Alabama fans.
So, Monday is National Championship Gear Day! If you choose to, students and staff can wear UGA (or Alabama) gear and/or team colors to school to show their support.
Let's cheer our home team on to victory! Go DAWGS!!!!
Sincerely,
Cortina Harris
