Rankin Elementary
Weekly Bulletin #16
WELCOME BACK!!
Welcome Back to a New Year, 2015! Time to set goals for the new year or work on your previously established goals! I've enjoyed relaxing the last few days and am ready for the busy second half of the year. Make 2015 what you want it to be by visualizing. We ask students to use this; maybe we should also. Visualize some images for 2015. Rankin, your students and you are all unique. What do you want to accomplish? Why is it important?
We welcome back Kim Spooner who will be back in her building para position supporting students. We will continue to have Tara in the building supporting students as well.

Evaluations
If you have not scheduled your Announced (formal) Observation with me, please stop in and schedule upon return from the Winter break. I would like to complete these in January. I will also begin working on unannounced observations. These are typically 20 - 30 minutes in length and you will need to upload on Teachscape your lesson plan within one day following the observation using the lesson plan document.
STAR Testing
The district has designated the January STAR testing as optional. However, due to our Focus School status and need for data to support our interventions we will complete testing during the January testing window. My conversations with teachers indicates that teachers feel they can complete the testing during their regular computer lab time so we will not have a STAR testing schedule. The testing window opens January 5th and it would be great to have your testing completed by the 16th. The window is open until January 23rd. I will be arranging with Ilise to support the K and 1st grade students/teacher as they complete their testing.
4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee
Reminder.....Our building Spelling Bee will be Friday, January 16th. 4th grade at 9:30 and 5th Grade at 1:30
Progress Monitoring
Please remember to continue to progress monitor your students. If you are in need of new Everyday Math materials please send me an email with the new chapter you need. Mark your calendar, I have scheduled grade level meetings for Ann Marie, Kelly, Anna and classroom teachers (during your planning) on Monday, February 9th. Please make sure you are progress monitoring on your identified students. You will again need to bring updated information at this meeting. More details as we get closer....
