Believe...Growth Mindset for Student Success!
Our School Vision
Knight Vision: To share in the commitment of rigorous and high quality instruction to meet the needs of every child.
Our 2017-2018 school theme “Believe...Growth Mindset for Student Success!” is directly aligned with our continued vision and instructional expectations for Knight: to share in the commitment of rigorous and high quality instruction to meet the needs of every child.
Instructional Focus:
*Implement the AKS (Common Mini-Lessons and Assessments)
*Implement Authentic Literacy (Purposeful Reading, Writing, and Discussion)
*Implement Effective Instruction (Workshop Model/Gradual Release)
Knight Mission: To provide a positive, stimulating, and secure environment that empowers the individual to grow socially, emotionally and intellectually in order to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.
Knight Belief: We believe all kids can learn…
…and we will establish high standards of learning that we expect all students to achieve. It is our job to create an environment in our classrooms that engages students in academic work that results in a high level of achievement. We are confident that with our support and help, students can master challenging curricula, and we expect them to do so. We are prepared to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and parents to achieve this shared educational purpose (DuFour, 1997a).

PBIS THOUGHTS
Confused about the referral process? Here are a few reminders to help you.
-A student is given a minor referral after the teacher attempts to diffuse the situation based on the flow chart.
-Once a student has been given three minor referrals for the same behavior, they are referred to admin for a major referral.
-All teachers are able to write referrals for students, not just homeroom teachers.
-Every referral is entered into the database sent out by Jennifer Brown on a weekly basis.
-We know all kids are different, so if you need help, talk to your PBIS representative or admin for support.
PBIS is working on ways to help you. If there is something you need to support our positive behavior initiative, please speak to your grade level representative.
Safety and Security Review ~ School Visitors/Doors
· Wear name badge at all times throughout the day.
· All visitors should wear an orange visitor sticker indicating the purpose of the visit.
- If a visitor does not have a visible orange visitor sticker, greet the visitor and ask their purpose in the school.
- Buzz the office for assistance or escort the visitor to the office.
· Do not prop exterior classroom doors/doors and make sure doors close completely if used during the day.
· All office, classroom, and custodial closet doors should be locked at all times and the doors closed when rooms are unoccupied.
