COVID-19 UPDATE
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your support and understanding as we encounter occasional outbreaks of COVID-19 in the community. It is important that we all contribute to minimizing the risk of infection. I would like to remind everyone of the need to adhere to our COVID-19 guidelines.
- Anyone who is unwell with COVID-19 symptoms are strongly encouraged to get tested and self-isolate until they receive a negative result. Find a testing clinic.
- Staff and students should not attend work or school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone with symptoms will need to be sent home and should not return until they have received a negative test result and are symptom-free. In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms, a letter from their GP is sufficient.
- All adults on school grounds should maintain a 1.5m distance from other people where practicable. Avoid the congestion of groups of visitors in specific areas where possible.
- All visitors to a school site must sign the school sign-in sheet where they acknowledge that they will comply with the COVID-19 requirements for visitors, contractors and service providers each time they visit. Visitors must also check-in using the Service NSW QR code.
Cross Country 2021
On Friday Week 3, SMSPS hosted our Cross Country event for all students turning 8 years of age and up. The weather for the event was outstanding but it wasn’t as good as the sportsmanship our students displayed. Students cheered on their peers and ran hard, with many pushing their bodies to new limits.
Our houses Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson received points for sportsmanship, behaviour, participation and for their war cries.
Congratulations to Blaxland who took out the best house on the day.
Well done to all our students.

Library News
I am Mr Becroft and I will be reporting on everything going on in the library. It is wonderful to arrive at St Mary’s South Public School and engage the children in both library lessons and building on the love of reading that the teachers here build in your children. A big thank you to the children for making me feel welcome and showing their excitement in coming to the library.
Over the first few weeks this term students have discussed the book week theme for this year of ‘Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds’ and what comes to mind in relation to this theme. We then created various flying machines from our imagination that may be found in these places and are displaying them in the library. Students are also revisiting the purpose of libraries and how they can use them.
