Mustang Parent Newsletter
October 2021
A Note from the Principal . . .
Happy October!
We are happy to have completed almost six weeks of in-school learning. Thank you for being cautious about keeping your children home if they are feeling sick. We have been navigating COVID cases in school this week and want to thank you for your feedback, as well as your cooperation and consistency in checking with your kids about how they are feeling.
Please remember that you have the flexibility to keep your child home if there is a positive case in their class, and work with their classroom teacher to get their assignments completed (like you would normally do if they stayed home and were sick). We are not offering distance learning this year in "real-time" but we are happy to work with you if you want to keep your child home for a week or so if positive cases have been identified in their classroom or in their siblings' classroom. We trust families to be able to make informed decisions about their own children and what learning environment is the healthiest and safest for them. Again, mask-wearing is recommended at MPS, but not required at this time.
Each Month, the Manvel School Board will review our Health and Safety Plan for the district. If you would like to review our MPS 2021 Health & Safety Plan, please click the link below or check it out on our school website. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact Mr. Wheeler at dave.wheeler@manvelk8.com

The Middle School Teachers will be located in the gym during conference hours. Middle School parents are invited to stop by any time on Tuesday or Thursday from 3:30-7:00 pm.
This year instead of having 1-hour late starts each month, we will be having three full days of professional development (PD) for teachers at MPS throughout the school year. Friday, October 8th there will be NO SCHOOL for students, but teachers will be here working on current research and initiatives for teaching and learning. The other PD days where students will not be in school include Friday, February 11th, 2022, and Friday, March 4th, 2022.
As we continue to deal with COVID this school year, and due to the small size of our gym, we will be canceling Turkey Bingo Night at MPS again, and instead, we will do the BINGO Fundraising cards like last year. This will run for two weeks from October 25th to November 5, 2021. More information will come home about this. Thanks for supporting PTO!
We are putting a special emphasis on RESPECT & RESILIENCE this year! Our students are doing a super job of practicing them daily. Each classroom has also done some learning activities with these themes.
Again, thanks for partnering with us to bring quality education to Manvel Public School! Your children are loved and cared for at MPS!
