Spiritual Reflection
Miss Sheila O'Callaghan
Christmas is almost here, but we still have time to pray, do kind things for others, and bring hope, peace and joy to others.
Beginning on December 17 and following, there are seven days of special prayers called the “O Antiphons.” In these prayers, we call Jesus by seven different titles: “Wisdom” on December 17, “Adonai”, meaning “God with us” on December 18, “O Flower of the Root of Jesse” on December 19, “O Key of David” on December 20, “O Radiant Dawn” on December 21, and “O King of all the Nations” on December 22. Finally, we call Jesus “O Emmanuel, O God with Us.” The “O Antiphons” are the basis of the seven verses of the song “O Come, O Come Emmanuel.”
Something special is happening on December 21. Winter begins! It is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. There will be about nine hours of daylight. However, the good news is that after December 21, each day will get longer and longer until June 21. We will have more light. Remember, Jesus is always our light. That is why we call him “O Radiant Dawn” and “Light of the World.”
Mary and Joseph were prepared for the coming of Jesus. Are we prepared? Do you mean it when you pray, “Come, Lord Jesus?”
Please pray for the sick, especially Fr. Mink, Fr. Jasper’s mom, Patrick Flanagan, and all the sick of our parish. Pray for those who have died, especially Mr. Dodds, father of St. Ann School graduates Katie and Erin, who died on December 4 and was buried on December 8. Please pray for our Armed Forces and First Responders.

Final Call: Support St. Ann School's Annual Fund
The St. Ann School Annual Fund was established in 2018 as a way to support the mission of the school and secure the legacy of Catholic education for future students of the school.
The Annual Fund directly supports the school’s core curriculum and electives, including two foreign languages and an enriched arts program and music program. The fund also provides state-of-the-art technology and equips faculty with the tools necessary to educate and develop the hearts and minds of St. Ann students.
This is a restricted fund that remains solely and separately for our students, who benefit directly from your gift.
All gifts received by December 31, 2022, qualify for a charitable deduction for the 2022 tax year.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration.

Christmas Caroling: Thank you to all who participated and spread Christmas cheer to our neighbors. Thank you to our volunteers for making it a success!
Christmas Shop: Students in PreK3-5th grade are invited to participate in a Holiday Gift Shop on Thursday, December 22. This shop will give students the opportunity to purchase gifts for family or friends at reasonable price points ($0.25-13.25) while at school. We will also provide gift wrapping to keep it a surprise!
A flyer was sent home with students introducing the shop. If for some reason you did not receive it, we will be sending another copy home on Monday along with envelopes for students to make their shopping list and budget. You may also choose to purchase a gift card voucher rather than send cash with your student but it is not required. Please ensure your student has a completed envelope with cash or voucher on Thursday in order to participate in the shopping fun.
If you are available to volunteer for this event, please complete this Google form. *Volunteers must have a current background check on file.
Restaurant Fundraiser: Please save the date for the next Saint Ann School Restaurant Fundraiser on Wednesday, January 11 at Stitch House Brewery.
If you know of a restaurant that would like to partner with HSA for a fundraiser, please contact Katie Messner at katieanne.messner@gmail.com.
Trivia Night: The new date for trivia night (rescheduled due to the World Series) is Saturday, January 28. We apologize for multiple changes in date. If you were unable to attend before, you are in luck because there is room for more tables to sign up! Tables can accommodate up to 8 people. Beer & soft drinks are included; BYO food. The doors open at 6:00 pm; trivia starts at 7:00 pm.
Please contact Brian Klous at bklous@gmail.com or klousb@dnb.com to register your table or if you have any questions.
