Greene Notes
Everything Team Tigers Needs to Know
What you have here is the re-launch of Greene Notes, an internal newsletter for GCSS staff that will be your hub for important dates, staff news, fun photos, and more. My goal is for Greene Notes to be a visually interesting and user-friendly way for all of us to get a quick blast of news from around the district without having to spend too much time reading. It's easily skimmable, with links to more information if you want it.
And please, leave your feedback so I can tailor this newsletter to the things you all want to see! There's a quick 4-question survey at the end, so please take it and let me know your thoughts!

Staff Profile: Andwele Wright
From the Bus Shop to the Automotive Classroom
Mr. Andwele Wright is well accustomed to his career as a diesel mechanic taking him all over the world, but he didn't expect it to take him into the classroom at Greene County High School.
Wright, a bus mechanic for the Greene County School System Transportation Department, was recently tapped to teach automotive mechanics classes in the Greene College & Career Academy. This is his first time teaching, aside from training other mechanics on the job, of course.
Originally from Atlanta, Wright attended Dekalb Technical College and earned his automotive technician degree and began working for MARTA. While at MARTA, he earned his heavy equipment mechanics certificate and gained experience working on charter buses and box trucks, repairing the same engines he would one day find under the hoods of Greene County's school buses.
A few years later, he traveled with the U.S. military to Afghanistan for a year as a contract worker, repairing bomb-proof military trucks called MRAPS.
“I’ve pretty much seen it all, except for teaching,” Wright said with a chuckle. “That’s a whole new thing.” Click here to read more of his story.
