We Are Packing Up
Yep, we have been given the work that we need to be out of Brookdale to make way for the construction to begin on the new Brookdale. This was orginally set to happen after the school year ended in June, but the Corona Virus had a something to say about that - since we are not returning to traditional school this year, they have moved up the dates when we need to be out. All staff are expected to have packed up their work area(s) by this Friday, May 8. The district will then be moving the portables (on the east side of the building) to a new location and begin the demolition of the rest of the building.
This is not the way we had planned to leave our dear school, but sometimes things don't work out the way we plan. Rest assured, when we move into the new Brookdale we will have a big celebration!!
While Brookdale teachers will be on site this week, the campus will remain closed and we will be following strict safety guidelines to ensure the health and safety of everyone. Please DO NOT come to the school. If you have questions, you can call the main office number - 253.298.3100.
Lunches will continue to be served at Brookdale this week - 11:00-12:00, but we will be moving the drive-through lunch service to the Gates parking lot soon.
As we get closer to our move the the staging school, we will be sure to keep you posted!
Share a Space? Cover Your Face!
Below are links to info-graphics from the Tacome PIerce County Health Department with guidance on wearing a mask in public during the pandemic. It is important to wear a mask in public to help to slow the potential spread of disease. Wear a mask to protect others, especially since there is a potential that people without symptoms may be spreading the virus unknowingly. Wearing a mask does not mean that you are sick, and does not indicate fear. We're all in this together!
RELEASES
If you are attending Brookdale on an out of area release you will be getting a letter this week explaining how to re-apply for next year. Please remember Friday, May 29th is the deadline for all releases to be submitted to have your children considered for placement at Brookdale next year.
Out of District – Students who live outside of the Franklin Pierce Schools boundaries, and are currently attending, will be considered for re-enrollment upon receipt of a school choice transfer/Release of attendance from the school district in which you reside.
With-In-District – If you are attending Brookdale on a release from one of the other elementary schools in our district, the online release must be completed by May 27 to hold a spot for your child for next year.
Overload students – If your child is currently enrolled at Brookdale on overload from another school in our district, you must enroll as soon as possible in your home school. This ensures that your child will be included in their spring placement process. Please remember that your child will be withdrawn from Brookdale at the end of the year.
If your children will not be attending our school next year or if you have any questions about this process, please contact Cindy Yant at 298-3100.
