Tech, Books and Tidbits gives you the latest news from the media center for staff, students, and parents. You can find the newsletter on the RHHS media center's webpage.

Destiny

Good news !! The Destiny catalog and circulation system is back. Once again you can search the catalog from your classroom or home. The URL is http://destiny.jcsd.net . Thank you for your patience while we manually recorded all materials checked out and tried to locate books you wanted without a catalog.

DISCUS has Changed

DISCUS has some new databases this school year: Applied Science and Technology, Student Research Center (Journals, ebooks, maps, newspapers, country reports, and more), Science and History Reference Centers, Novelist Plus, Credo Reference, and Bloom's Literary Reference Online. Our favorite databases are still there: Opposing Viewpoints and Ferguson Career Guidance Center (including ebooks). Just click on scdiscus.org to gain access to DISCUS. You don't need a password in school. Home access information is available in the media center.

Listen to Amy Duernberger, DISCUS Program Director, describe the resources available including Encyclopedia Britannica on Walter Edgar's Journal

Changes in the Media Center

Does the Media Center look different this year to you? Well, it is different. The fiction section has been been reorganized. The nonfiction books are located around the perimeter of the media center. The reference books are relocated on the small shelves toward the back of the media center. There is a special careers section as well. Almost all of the high school books from Hardeeville Middle High School have been added to the collection.

Art on Display

The next time you visit the media center, look up.....on the top of the shelves for student art work.

Televisions and DVDs

There are three televisions available for classroom use. Make sure you schedule the use of a TV ahead of time since they are in demand. The media center also has a DVD collection. The staff is invited to view the collection any time.
