What is a Humid Subtropical zone?

Humid Subtropical zones tend to have mild winters and hot summers. Most places in these climate zones are within 20 to 30 degrees latitude, and are in the Eastern parts of countries. Humid subtropical climate zones are classified as either Cfa or Cwa. The difference is that Cwa has dry winters, while Cfa does not.

What factors control the climate?

A major factor controlling the climate are the oceans, since some cities are on the coast, the oceans will store and absorb heat. It is controlled by maritime tropical air masses, bring rain to this area. During the winter, there are tropical cyclones and frontal systems that affect the weather.

How does it differ?

Manila, The Philippines, is nearby Hong Kong, China, but is in a different climate zone. It is in the tropical monsoon climate zone, or Am. This is due to the wet and dry seasons that they have. The mid-latitude gives it fairly mild temperatures year-round.

Floral and Faunal Adaptations

Animals like alligators, deer, and panthers live in humid subtropical climates. Plants grown in this climate are usually evergreens, because they can endure the temperature and rainfall.
