Pictures of the Week

Topics:

  • Writing: Drafting our personal narrative stories, continuing with cursive.

  • Reading: Lucy Calkins reading program unit on "Interpreting Characters". Please encourage your child to work for at least 30 minutes on www.learnzillion.com on the lessons they are assigned from Google Classroom.

  • Math: We completed Unit 1, culminating with tests at the end of this week. Please encourage your child to work for at least 30 minutes per week on www.khanacademy.org/maptest. Students also gained access to the Math Expressions website this week. Their username and password is in the front of their agenda. This is a great place to go if students are struggling with something they learned in class.

  • Science: We learned about how light moves and how our senses interact with light.

  • Enrichment: Students finished their research on their individual topics and created their presentations. We also started creating our online educational portfolios using Weebly.

Welcome Milena Terenzi!

Milena is joining us from Oakland University for her field placement class. She will be helping out a few hours each week! We are excited to have her!

Volunteering

I love to have parents get involved in our classroom activities! Please make sure you have completed and turned in the volunteer form for the District along with a copy of your Driver's License. You should get a confirmation from the office that you are approved to volunteer before coming in.

Please view this volunteer spreadsheet if you'd like to see if there is a consistent time you can volunteer. It doesn't need to be every week, but I'm hoping it can be something consistent each month.

Important Things to Remember About Volunteering

1. Always be on time. The class has a tight schedule and a lot to accomplish in a day.

2. If you cannot make your scheduled time please call/email me as soon as possible.

3. Please do not bring younger siblings into the classroom while you are volunteering.

Thank you for your help!
