Calena Moore
About me!
My name is Calena Moore and I am 24 years old. I am married to my best friend, Lucas, and we have one child, Jonas. Jonas is 2 years old and the most awesomely energetic little guy I know. I love my role as a mother and cherish every moment I get to spend with my little family. My parents have been happily married for 25 years. I have two younger brothers, one studying at WSU and the other a senior in high school. I am a sophomore at Butler Community College pursuing my degree in Elementary Education through the BEST program. My father is a Gifted and Talented elementary school teacher and partly inspired my interest in becoming a teacher.
Interests and Hobbies
I LOVE to garden. We just bought our first house and I cannot wait to get a vegetable garden going and create beautiful flower gardens around the house. I have a large cacti and succulent collection that fill my front bay window.
I also love creating. Whether it be painting, drawing, writing, or making music, I love making things. My husband and I make electronic music together when we can find the time, but our respective jobs and schooling keep us busy.
I would also say I love learning. History is a specific interest of mine and I love catching those cheesy History Channel documentaries, or spending an hour or so surfing the internet reading different articles on things long ago.

Personal Learning Style
I have learned that I am much more of a visual learner as time goes on. It is important for me to be able to see a math problem worked out in front of me, and then to repeat the steps as I go. With music making I also love being able to visually see the process at hand, especially when learning new patterns on a synthesizer or keyboard. I do not have any learning challenges. I graduated from East High with my International Baccalaureate diploma and was lucky enough to never be challenged beyond that.
Strengths and Weaknesses
I am currently a retail sales lead at T-Mobile. Some of my strengths would be confidently motivating others to complete a task and to encourage everyone to be the best person and sales person that they can be. Weaknesses would be accepting others weaknesses much easier than my own. As a mother my strengths would be persevering through all that my little toddler can throw (figuratively and literally ha!) at me and keeping my patience through the good and the bad. My weaknesses would be when he says "Peas, Mommy!" and shows me the Toy Story DVD for the thousandth time.

Future Goals
In the future I would love to achieve my dream job of becoming a teacher. I hope to keep my energy and motivation as time goes on to inspire future learners to achieve their full potentials and strive for the very best. I hope to be an inspiration for my students as well as my son. I hope to learn as much as possible in my career, and know when to recognize my weaknesses and work on bettering them.
