Perry High School
Newsletter #23 (3/31/2020)
Message from the Principal
I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back from Spring Break. Hopefully, the time off was as restful as possible given our circumstances and that families were able to connect with each other in meaningful ways during this difficult time.
As a reminder - Monday, March 30th - marked the final week of the 3rd grading quarter and the first day for remote learning to begin. Teachers have been placing assignments, activities, and lessons into Google Classroom with expectations of when these items are to be completed. At any point as we move forward, please reach out to your student’s teachers or School Counselor should you have a question or need support in any manner. Throughout the normal school hours, all of our staff continue to monitor email and school voicemails in the hopes of answering your questions as they arise.
Finally, please remember that the Perry Local Schools are offering a “grab and go” lunch program between the hours of 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (noon). Lunches may be picked up at Perry High School along with Watson, Whipple, and Knapp Elementary Schools.
Your patience and understanding as we move into this week with remote learning activities is truly appreciated. In many instances, this is uncharted territory for everyone, so we truly do appreciate your support.
Take care, stay healthy, and Go Perry!!!
Work Permit Process
Students will need to print these documents to be filled out by themselves, parents, and new employers. After the forms are filled out, they are to be mailed to terri.beard@perrylocal.org and she will process the work permit and email it back to the student to give to their employer. Any questions about work permits can also be sent to terri.beard@perrylocal.org.
tips to Supporting Students During School Closure
In addition, we wanted to provide our families with some ideas below that would help you and your student create a good routine and environment in your home that can help support this new remote learning model. We truly do appreciate your patience with this transition and encourage you to reach out to staff with any questions that may arise as we move forward. Here are just a few suggestions that may help encourage a successful learning setting at home:
- Try to dedicate a quiet, distraction free space for your student to work
- Have routines and a schedule for how they will approach the day
- Chunking their time and break time should be a part of the schedule for the day
- Help your student set goals or a checklist for the day
- Communicate with your teachers on a regular basis
These are certainly uncharted times for everyone yet through our collaborative and supportive efforts, we will be successful on many levels.
