Golf
Bostock and Cousins earned berths into the District I Golf Tournament at Turtle Creek Golf Club in Pottstown.
Coach Conrad called the season a success and would like to wish all of the seniors success in the future.
Girls Cross Country
Sydney Rubin led the girls this year as she earned First Team BAL this season. Alexis Lohin was a Second Team all league selection.
The girls started off with only 4 girls back in August and the team grew upwards to 18 girls throughout the season. Coach Green is really excited to build on the success of this season moving forward and get the girls involved in more duel meets next season.
Football
The team will lose 14 seniors after this season. Those seniors are Jordan Altman, Jake Feldman, Matt Hennessey, Brock Landes, Vince Lin, Andrew Movesesian, Mike Parisse, James Ralph, Frankie Rosario, Matt Stefurak, Sean Tinari, Brandon Troung, Prem Vadodaria and David Vasserman. Coach Beck was very thankful for everything that those 14 seniors brought to the Lower Moreland Football family including their dedication and commitment.
The boys will take a few weeks off before they are back in the weight room and conditioning for the 2018 season.
Boys Soccer
The boys were under the direction of first year varsity head coach Bob Barnhart. The team throughout the year showed flashes of greatness. One of the highlights was Senior Night as the defeated Springfield 1-0 in Overtime to secure a playoff berth.
The team loses 6 seniors to graduation and Coach Barnhart wanted to thank them for their dedication and commitment to the Boys Soccer Program at Lower Moreland.
Girls Soccer
In the playoffs the girls won their first game 2-0 over Villa Maria Academy at home. In the Semi-Finals the girls looked to avenge one of their two losses on the season. However, the girls fell just short falling to Villa Jo Marie 3-1.
The girls accomplished something that had not been done in a few years and that was win a post season game and advanced to the District Semi-Finals for the first time at the AAA level.
Earning First Team All League Honors this year were Miah Gomez, Kayla O'Malley, Rebecca Scoll & Allison Asmann. Earning Second Team All League was Brianna Costa, Yazmine Machlof, Nictole Castor, & Phoebe Lynch. Kayla O'Malley also won player of the year for the conference and was nominated for the All State Team. Overall it was a great season for the girls!
Boys Cross Country
The team was led by first team runners Shane Cohen & Connor McFadden. As well as second team runners John Davies & Ben Zonshayn. Shane Cohen was the District I AA Champion finishing with a time of 16:42. That result and time helped Shane qualify for the state meet. Connor McFadden also finished in the top 10 at the District I meet with a time of 18:04.
Field Hockey
The girls were led this year by Senior Jamie Mayer who set a new record for most goals in a senior season this year. Freshman Taryn Mayer also broke the freshman goal scoring record for the Field Hockey team this year. Coach Ashenbrenner sent a special thanks to the 8 seniors this year who dedicated a lot of time into helping build the program into what it has become. Those 8 seniors are Stevie Goldman, Jamie Mayer, Gianna Venafra, Kasey Duffey, Lexi Colbridge, Grace Laudenslager, Stacy Kang & Marissa Cuka.
Jamie Mayer & Kasey Duffey earned first team all league honors. Gianna Venafra and Taryn Mayer earned second team all league. Goalie Grace Laudenslager and Stevie Goldman earned Honorable Mention. The 2017 season was a huge success for the Lady Lions. Senior Jamie Mayer will also be competing in the PhilaFH All-Star Game in Lancaster on Sunday November 19th.
Girls Tennis
The girls won both the BAL League Championship and AA District Championship for the third consecutive year. In the state tournament the girls defeated Lansdale Catholic 5-0, Lancaster Catholic 3-1 & Seweickley Academy 3-1, before falling in the state championship match to Villa Maria.
The team was captained by Eliana Yi, Elizabeth Berzin & Anastasia Shchurin. Other accomplishments this season included Elizabeth Berzin finishing 3rd in league singles and becoming a district qualifier. Both Berzin and Ally Cheiken won the league championship doubles tournament, and finished second in the district tournament. Both Berzin and Cheiken earned First Team All BAL Honors.
Special Thanks
The first thanks goes out to our Fall Cheer squad which was under the leadership of Coach Ali Shain. The squad continued to make progress all fall with their cheers and routines. They were at each of our home and away games this season and helped cheer on our football team throughout the entire season. Congrats on a great fall season, and we look forward to seeing them in action at basketball games this winter.
The second thanks goes out to our Pep Band. The band was under the direction of Mr. Erin Stroup. The music at the football games was on point and helped to bring an electric atmosphere to Huntingdon Valley on Saturday Afternoons. Thanks to all of the members of both our cheer team and pep band.
