Monthly Notes
Schedule and conduct your formal observation with your mentor before Thanksgiving (if you haven't already done so!). If you used your Instructional Cycle Documentation to plan for the observed lesson, be sure to complete the Reflection section and 1-2 page written reflection after your observation.
Mentors should take this opportunity to walk REs through the OTES paperwork, including rubric. However, the formal RE observation does not need to be done on the OTES rubric. Mentor notes and pre- and post- collaborative logs should reference specifics from the rubric to help prepare REs for their first OTES observation with principals.
Tasks This Month
- Instructional Cycle Documentation (must be completed before Winter break)
- Collaborative Log documenting Pre-Conference
- Collaborative Log documenting Post-Conference
- Observation Notes completed by Mentor
- RE Reflection: 1-2 pages written about the process of evaluation, lessons learned, challenges, thoughts moving into formal evaluation with principals
