iPad and Chromebook Insurance
Students entering K-12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year will, once again, receive a personal computing device. Please click the link below to purchase insurance for your student’s device. This optional insurance policy provides peace of mind. The replacement cost of each device can cost upwards of $300, and some common repairs, such as a cracked screen can cost as much as $70.00.

If you have more than one student in grades K-12, you will have to register and purchase insurance for each student. There is a family cap of three students per family, so if you have more than three students, you will receive insurance coverage for the entire family for the cost of three insurance waivers ($60.00).

New classrooms, friends, clothes, teachers, and ideas: A new school year brings the energy of something BRAND SPANKING NEW! That also means getting ready and lots of fresh ink and entries on your calendar. So here are some more:
DID YOU KNOW… that just like your kiddo’s teacher, the PTO spends time in the summer calendaring events and planning for a new year?
Last year brought inaugural events folks seemed to love like the Trunk-or-Treat and Holiday North Pole. Along with some classic favorites like Play Day and Teacher Appreciation Week, we plan to change a few things up this year too. When you visit your child’s classroom at Open House you will have the opportunity to submit a Google Form for volunteer opportunities. That form will also include the new opportunity to serve as a Homeroom Parent for your child’s class. This year’s regularly scheduled PTO meetings will include a short teacher presentation on a different topic/ from a different grade-level throughout the year. And, for anyone who can’t make the evening PTO meetings, we will also be offering a few morning and afternoon PTO meetups at the school.
New ways to perfect the old, completely new ideas, new insights, and a combination of new and veteran parents are what our PTO is all about. Hopefully, YOU will participate this new school year! Check out our video to learn more!

Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are an essential part of the Jackson R2 School District. Volunteers enhance the efforts of staff members by working with students, helping with school activities and assisting with clerical duties. Jackson R2 volunteers are part of the school team and enrich district activities by increasing productivity and effectiveness.
Volunteer activities include direct interaction in the classroom, including listening to students read, providing individual assistance to students, and assisting with class activities. Volunteers are also needed for indirect interaction such as copying materials, assisting with classroom or school decorating, and helping prepare activities for students. Volunteers may also assist by working on projects at home. Examples include, cutting bulletin board materials, preparing materials for a class activity and tabulating book orders. Please take a moment to read through our Jackson R2 School District Volunteer Handbook to learn more about our volunteer program.
Before volunteering, individuals must complete a Volunteer Application. A Missouri Request for Child Abuse or Neglect/Criminal Record form will need to be completed if volunteers are interested in working directly with students. Once all paperwork has been processed, volunteers will be given an assignment.
The Jackson R2 School District Volunteer program is a "school-based" program. Each school in the district determines its unique needs and the kinds of services to be provided to meet those needs. For more information contact the building office (573) 243-5271 or the superintendent's office (573) 243-9501.
Parent Drop Off Procedures
Thank you very much for being familiar with our drop off and pick up procedures. We ask that you remain in your vehicle at all times when driving through the lane. If your child needs assistance getting in or out of the vehicle, please park in the parking lot. If there are any changes to your child’s dismissal plan, call the office at (573) 243-5271 by 2:00 PM. If another adult (grandma, uncle, etc.) drops off/picks up your children, please make them knowledgeable of our procedures.
Drop off time is from 7:15-7:50 AM, and certified staff members will be on duty. Students are dismissed to class at 7:50 AM.
Enter using the second entrance (north entrance).
All K – 1st students should be dropped off in the lane closest to the building (yellow lane).
All 2nd – 4th students should be dropped off in the lane farthest from the building (green lane). If the 2nd-4th grader has a K-1st grade sibling, then they should be dropped off in the first lane (yellow).
Please have your child seated on the passenger side of your vehicle. It is much easier and quicker for them to get out on the side closest to the building.
Be sure to pull all the way forward when dropping your child off (there is a white line with the words STOP HERE to designate this area).
Never park in the lanes. This is against fire code. If you want to walk your child in the building you are required to park in the parking lot. Also, please avoid parking on the street.
The teachers on duty will direct traffic, so pay close attention to what they ask you to do.
If you see the sign “Late Arrivals” you will need to park your vehicle in the parking lot and walk your child in the building to sign them in.
K and 3rd grade students will eat breakfast or go to the gym until 7:50 AM.
1st, 2nd, and 4th grade students will eat breakfast or go to their grade level common area until 7:50 AM.
Parent Pick Up Procedures
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grades
The dismissal bell will ring at 3:10 PM.
All K - 2nd students will be dismissed in front of the building.
Enter at the second entrance (see the attached drawing).

All 2nd students should be picked up in the lane farthest from the building (green lane).
Be sure to pull all the way forward when picking up your child (there is a white line with the words STOP HERE to designate this area) .
Our goal is to get vehicle traffic off of Lacey Street as quickly as possible. Many parents stand in the parking lot to pick their child up, which is okay, but our priority is to scan parents in vehicles first. Therefore, it will be quicker for parents to pick students up from the driving lanes.
Never park in the lanes. This is against fire code. If you want to get out of your vehicle for any reason you are required to park in the parking lot. Also, please avoid parking on the street.
3rd and 4th Grades:

Students will be responsible for walking to our exit across from Diana Drive.
Students who are walking home or riding their bikes home are required to use the sidewalks.
Bus Riders K - 4th Grade:
Buses will arrive at East Elementary at approximately 3:25 PM.
It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to load the buses and for them to pull away from school.
