COVID-19 Update & District Preparations
- The district has taken short term steps to address the spread of any bacterial or viral pathogens at all school sites. All custodial staff, as part of their cleaning schedules, are now wiping surfaces touched by students (desktops, door handles, etc) with a CDC approved bacterial and viral disinfectant. This will continue indefinitely until the threat subsides.
- All custodial staff have all of the disinfectant materials and supplies necessary. Several weeks ago, our district stockpiled these supplies and materials in anticipation they may become harder to come by.
The district is in the process of ordering CDC and district approved antiviral and antibacterial wipes for ALL classrooms and offices so that teachers and staff have them on hand as needed throughout the day.
While we are still considered to be in a "low risk" area and there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alameda County, the district is developing worst case scenario contingency plans in case it becomes necessary to limit student and staff access to schools.
Our superintendent is communicating with our families regularly to provide updates on guidance received by the Alameda County Public Health Department and the Alameda County Office of Education.
Thursday, March 5th will be a district wide hand-washing day. On this day all schools will be promoting proper hand-washing with specific lessons to reinforce healthy habits.
