Flower Festival- TODAY

We will host a flower festival on today from 4:30-5:30. Bring your gardening gloves, little shovels so we can plant some flowers around the building. Families will help plant flowers around the front of the building to add some color as we continue through spring and into summer.

Fifth grade Orientation- Family Night

Our fifth grade families will have the opportunity to visit the middle school on this evening, Tuesday, May 10th from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Dress Code

We know that the warmer weather has brought out the summer clothes. Please be mindful that the dress code states that students should have shorts at fingertip length, tops cover the bell and no thin straps. No sandals should be worn as our students participate in PE everyday.

Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Alicia Onik

Every week we will shine a spotlight on one of our very own Hometown Staff members. This week we will meet Mrs. Alicia Onik

How long and what grades have you taught?

I’ve taught 3rd grade for 7 years and have been a reading specialist for 8 years!

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go and why?

Anywhere warm and if I’m watching my kids play sports in the warm sun that’s even better!

What is the best thing about working at Hometown?

The best thing about working at Hometown is the students. They make me smile every day!

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food pizza! I could eat a different pizza every day… stuffed, deep dish, thin crust, Detroit style, New York style. My favorite places for pizza are Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders, Lou Malnati’s, Home Run Inn, Jet’s, Palermo’s, Giordano’s, Aurelio’s, and Tony’s Villa Rosa!

Who is someone you admire and why?

I admire every teacher and staff member I work with at Hometown. Their commitment to the wellbeing and success of all of the students in the school is extremely admirable, the best in the district!

If you see Mrs. Onik around the school make sure you say hello!!

Arab American Family Services

We will be happy to partner with the Arab American Services for next year. Please see the attached flyer. We are looking for parent mentors to start next year.

STEM Camps

See the attached flyers for our students to be able to attend the STEM camps at the different schools. This is another great opportunity for our children to use their knowledge.
