Patriot Week at a Glance
March 1 - 5
A Note from the Principal:
Dear Patriot Families,
Spring is in the air today. This is the time of year when we get to watch the Earth come back to life with the greens and vibrant colors blooming all around us. The warmth of the sun fills us with energy and enthusiasm to be outside. It is my goal to bring all of this color and energy into our work here at the school. Our Patriot Elementary team – students, staff, parents and community are an amazing group of people. We are not afraid of hard work or the challenging demands that come our way.
We are seeing progress in our students. Their increase in capacity to accomplish their academic work and improve their decision-making skills in all areas is helping them find success. I hope you know how much we care about your children, not just as students but also as the wonderful people that they are each and every day.
This year, we are continuing our plans for state assessment testing for grades 3rd - 5th. Testing will occur mid/late April, so please do not plan any outside appointments during this time. As we learn more, we will send out schedules listing dates and times. At this time, we are remaining focused on quality instruction and continue to build healthy learning environments for all children.
As we wrap up the third quarter of the year (Can you even believe that we are almost three quarters of the way through this year?), I want to encourage us all to carry on with the energy that spring will bring. We need to continue #patriotstrong. It will take all of us to help our wonderful students to be able to show how far they have come this year. Carry on and enjoy the beauty that is all around us and especially in our wonderful students.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Canon, Principal

Virtual Wellness Resources
FFC8 Families,
As we enter into second semester, FFC8 mental health providers have put together a collection of virtual wellness resources for students and families to use for self-care. There are a variety of resources for children of all ages, from animal cams and coloring sheets, to music and yoga. Please explore these resources with or for your child(ren) or yourselves. Our wellness resource page can be accessed through this link and is also available through the home page at each school as well as the district website.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL WITH A MASK
A note from our school nurse, Mrs. Porter:
We have students at Patriot who have no immunization records or are missing immunizations. Please contact me or bring in updated ones, that would be greatly appreciated! We will also contact families who need to turn in records.
SHOULD I SEND MY CHILD TO SCHOOL TODAY? (See decision tree below)
RETURN TO LEARN PLAN: See the Handbook
Patriot is a Title I School.

We are proud to inform you that all teachers at Patriot Elementary meet these rigorous standards. As a parent you have a right to inquire about the qualifications of your child’s teacher or paraprofessional. In order to do so you should contact Mr. Joel Hamilton at (719) 382-1300. He will be able to provide you with this information. If you have any additional questions about our Title I status or programming, please feel free to contact Mrs. Canon, Principal at 719-382-1460.
PLEASE HAVE STUDENTS WEAR ONE MASK TO SCHOOL AND KEEP ANOTHER MASK IN THEIR BACKPACKS.
