Hawk Weekly

April 13th-17th

4/20/2020 Update

Hi Havel Families,

Tomorrow brings our next step in our journey of on-line teaching and learning. Students will be introduced to new content and curriculum and our specials teachers will have content available for our students as well. (art, gym, music, media center)

Schoology logs when your child accesses materials on the site.Teachers will check this report on a daily basis to see if your child has logged in. Please do not worry about what time of the day you are able to get to the materials. You need to do what works for you and your family. Your child will not be penalized if they miss a day or two as long as they complete the work you are good to go. Please make sure you are communicating with the classroom teacher on a case by case basis. By submitting work either through the online learning sites such as ThinkCentral, ConnectEd, ReadWorks, or Schoology your child will have the option to earn “credit” for actively participating in online learning.

Submitting Assignments

Students will earn credit or no credit by submitting assignments. I have encouraged our teachers to be flexible as to how they accept the assignments to be submitted. I ask that you please keep in mind that their flexibility requires more organization and work on their end to keep track of who is turning what in on what platform. They are learning how to manage this as we go, so your patience and understanding for them is appreciated!

Schoology Schedule (this is a suggestion and NOT a requirement... do what works for you!)

Below is a suggested Elementary Schoology Schedule. This schedule serves as a guide for families as to when content will be available for students each day. Students are encouraged to access their lessons according to the schedule; however, they may access their online learning lessons and activities at any point throughout the day. Students will have lessons Monday-Thursday only. On Friday's our teachers will be offering office hours. Many of them have sent their office hours to you via a message in Schoology. Teachers will be getting you that information by this Wednesday, April 22nd.

Nightime Q & A Zoom Meetings with Mrs. Tepper

While I am always available via. email, I have scheduled Zoom Meeting times for our families to attend if they have any questions for me. I sent the meeting link and information through your child's Schoology account and ask that this meeting is for parents only. While I miss our students faces, smiles, and laughs, I would like to devote some time to helping YOU with what you may need. Please keep your mics muted unless you have a question and utilize the comment section for any questions you have as well! I scheduled these meetings later in the evening with the hope that a later time would allow you to attend.

Monday- Kindergarten & 1st Grade Parents 8:00 pm

Tuesday- 2nd & 3rd Grade Parents 6:30pm

Tuesday- 6th Grade Parents 8:00pm

Wednesday- 4th & 5th Grade Parents 6:30pm

Stay safe and hug your Havel Hawk for me!
