Ste. Genevieve Preschool
Newsletter - February 2, 2024
Weekly Update
Literacy:
- Letter/sound identification (main focus was Ss)
- Concepts about print (parts of a book, starting at the top moving left to right with a return sweep to the next line)
- Phonemic awareness skills (rhyming, initial & ending sounds, blending and segmenting)
- Recalling information from stories read
- Modeling and discussing different forms (stages) of writing. From scribbles, to letter like forms, to random strings of letters, to writing some sounds they hear in words. We discussed how we may be at different stages and that is perfectly okay. Most of the students are really interested in "writing" now that we have discussed the different forms of writing and that it is okay to be at different stages.
Math:
- Writing numbers
- Number identification
- Rote Counting
- Counting 1:1

Donations Needed & Reminder
- If you have not donated 2 or more roles of paper towels, we would appreciate you contribution. We use them to clean the tables throughout the day (We typically clean each table 5-6 times a day, before and after meals).
- Please send a water bottle with your child daily. We are not always able to run to the water fountain to fill cups right when the kiddos want a drink and we hate for them to go without water if they are wanting some.
- If you signed up to send in items for our Community Kindness Project, please have those items to school by February 6 at drop off.
- If your child brings a stuffed animal to school, please limit it to only one.
