Shout Out
Weekly Shout Out goes to our fabulous 8th grade team! Thank you for hosting an amazing intersession! The kids were engaged and excited about their learning. Kathryn's students' reflections included:
We had some freedom to do what we wanted.
I liked how the project involved both cooperation and independence.
I like how we were given so many choices of color in felt and string.
It’s fun to see how everyone envisioned Spitz and Buck differently.
You need courage to show your creativity. Being creative means making new things and sometimes people won’t like those new things so you need courage to prove them wrong and keep doing what you believe in.
Thank you team for making this experience a memorable one for your students!

WEEKLY NEWS
Save the Date! We will have a baby shower for Taylor Fletes and Kelli Gilbreath on Thursday, January 23rd. More details to come!
Reminder for iReady: All students at RMS need to take Diagnostic #2 so we can measure our progress toward SPSA goals.
Prides and teacher teams will decide when to engage the Diagnostic. The district will not engage the diagnostic for us.
iReady Diagnostic must be complete by February 28th. Prides should discuss protocols for ensuring all students finish (i.e., sharing class time needed to complete the test).
Please let admin know specifics for your Pride.
8th Grade Teachers: This year, instead of our 8th graders taking a field trip to one of the three high schools, each school will be visiting each middle school with a "road show" highlighting the programs and sharing information about the unique nature of each high school with our 8th graders. Rancho Buena Vista will be here on January 24th for a 1 hour presentation. As soon as we have the confirmed time of the assembly, we will send out a communication. MVHS and VHS are coordinating to see if they can do a joint visit on the same day. Again, we'll send word as soon as we have confirmation.
Message from Gabby: Happy New Year dear RMS teachers and staff. This is a reminder about the parent workshops are offering at RMS so you may share this information with your students:
Wednesdays - Tech. workshop
Thursdays - English classes, both meet from 8:30 to 10:00 am.
Our RMS Sewing Club starts back up on Tuesday January 28th. We can help all teachers with any projects that you may need for your class: make curtains, pillows, repair any piece of dress or personal item. Just let us know and we will let you know if we are able to help you with your request.

Vista Unified LCAP and Budget Community Forums
In order to fully engage the Vista community in discussions about potential budget solutions and to gather input and recommendations, VUSD has set a series of LCAP and Budget Community Forums taking place around the district. We will have Spanish interpretation available at all forums. Further, we will be posting to the Vista Unified web page a link to a digital feedback form for all community members who are not able to attend a forum in person. We will also be fully engaging our bargaining units (Vista Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association), as well as the District English Language Advisory Committee, District Parent Advisory Committee and the Vista Parent Teachers Association in feedback and recommendations for budget solutions.
