START WITH HELLO WEEK - September 24th - September 28th
Here is a parent brochure that explains about our week of activities and philosophy of the Start with HELLO program. All schools in the district will be taking part in this initiative.
Overview of possible activities:
Monday: 2 Brief School Assemblies for (K-2 and 3-5): Start With Hello video presentation & Overview for the week- "Hello, my name is" stickers for everyone to wear in the building.
Our Summer Readers will be recognized at each assembly as well.
Tuesday: Make 'Start With Hello' Poster to put outside classrooms
Wednesday: 'Start with Hello' creative writing with cross-grade level buddies. Presentations to each other; peer to peer. (Essay, poem, songs, raps, letters or skits - whatever students choose to do)
Thursday: 'Start with Hello' Compliment Day. Make a compliment paper-chain for all the compliments given to others to hang around the school and classrooms.
Friday: 'Start with Hello' & Tiogue Spirit Day: wear green and wear Tiogue gear & Get Caught Saying Hello Day. Give stickers and/or Brave Bucks to students who get caught saying Hello to one another, especially people who you may not know too well.
Our teachers have autonomy to go beyond the above ideas.
What's Happening at Tiogue Elementary School, Home of the Timberwolves
Thank you for coming to our Open House last Thursday evening; we had such a great turnout.
If you did not get an opportunity to come to Open House here are some of the finer points:
Teachers presented goals and expectations for the school year. Ways of communicating with our faculty were discussed.
Our Attendance goals and programs were discussed that evening.
Data to begin the school year shows that we already have approximately 400 absences and tardies logged during our first 12 days of school. That number needs to come down tremendously. That is why our goal is to decrease absences this year throughout all of our Coventry Schools. Hopefully our student incentive program will help to encourage everyone to do their best to get to school each day. We do know that everyone gets sick. However, if we focus on those students that are consistently out of school at least 2-5 times per month, we can make a big dent in our attendance issue.
