SD Met Family Updates
One student at a time

Makers Space!
Met Makers Space is a fantastic venue to "Learn by Doing". Students are engaged in woodworking, graphic design, 3D printing and so much more. Thank you to Ms. Armstrong for fostering such a creative workspace for our students.
Door Decorating Competition!
Our 10 Advisories competed in a Door Decorating Contest and the students really went all out. Here are our top vote getters:
Becerra Advisory
An homage to Mean Girls.
So fetch!
Wangler Advisory
A riff on Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
Brandes Advisory
Percy Jackson is so cool!
Oh my gods!
SCHOOLWIDE NEWS
NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!
Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving Break is the entire week of November 20-24. See you all back at school on November 27th.
Save the Date: December 8
Our Met tradition, a schoolwide Zoo Trip, is coming up on Dec. 8. Permission slips will be sent home for parent/guardian signature soon.
Impact Aid Survey
Thank you to those of you who have completed this survey. If you have not, please complete the 2023-2024 Impact Aid Survey in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This is NOT the LCFF form that we did previously; it is a separate form that needs to be completed to secure funding for our school. It is very short with three basic questions: one is confirming the information in PowerSchool is correct, one is about housing, and the final one is about whether you live in military housing. It should take less than a minute to complete!
Here are directions:
Login at https://powerschool.sandi.net/.
Select Forms from the left-hand navigation menu, then select 2023-24 Impact Aid Survey.
Follow the prompts and submit the form. Please be sure a confirmation appears before logging off. This FLIER also shows the few steps to completion.
If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact Suzana Valis at svalis@sandi.net or 619-288-2529. Any family that had not yet established a Parent Portal account was emailed their specific Access Codes from Ms. Valis last week.
Thank you for your help with making sure our school is fully funded!
COMMUNITY NEWS
Fabric Remnants Needed!
Community Club is collecting fabric remnants (cotton preferably, at least 14" in length) to support new immigrant youth with school supplies. Our students will be making/sewing pencil pouches and fabric binder covers to give to newly arrived families. Please send any fabric to school with your student. Thank you!
Community Club Toy Drive
Donate toys to Snazzyloops, a KINDNESS non-profit here in San Diego. See the attached QR code that takes to you directly to the Wish List on Amazon. On December 9, Community Club members will be helping pass out toys in hand-crafted stockings. From the Snazzyloops FB page: "This holiday season we have 250 Holiday stockings, handmade with love, that need to be filled. This is where you come in. Partnering with me on being a hero to little ones will guarantee, cute little smiles in their hard world. Thank you so much for spreading kindness with me this holiday season.❤️"
