Parents As Teachers
Wellsville-Middletown R-I and Montgomery Co. R-II
Hopeful is the word that keeps running through my mind as we turn the calendar to a new year. I'm an optimist by nature, so I may be feeling more hopeful then you are right now. I'm none the less hopeful that we see less sickness, less stress and anxiety and more get togethers with friends and family in 2021.
We did many outside 'driveway' visits last fall while the weather was mild. Now that winter has set in, we've pivoted to virtual visits. It's not the same we know, and we miss sitting on the floor and playing with your kids, laughing with you and just being together. We're doing porch drop-offs of bags with activity supplies ahead of our virtual visits. If your internet connection isn't reliable we're happy to do phone call visits.
We're excited to say we're planning a virtual 'Paint with PAT' group connection in February. We've never done anything like this before. We're both a little excited and anxious about it! See below for more details, and how you can register.
We're also making plans for our spring preschool and kindergarten screening days in both districts. We're working with administrators in both districts and planning to do everything we can to keep you and your children as safe as possible...while still planning in-person screening days.

Staff Book Review
Love Your Forever by: Robert Munsch
One of my very favorite books that I read to my three daughters is "Love You Forever", by Robert Munsch. This book, about a mother's love for her son, chronicles different stages in his life, beginning as a tiny baby, and ending as a young man. The author describes some of the stages a child goes through, from flushing his mother's watch down the toilet as a curious two year old, to his teenage years, and listening to "strange" music. But at night, the mother would always quietly come into his room, and rock with him, no matter how challenging he had been that day. This book illustrates the unconditional love and the bond between a parent and their child, and the "circle of life", as the child now has a child of his own. The book is available for purchase from Amazon here.

Winter PAT Home Viists
Burr! It's cold outside! As long we're having winter weather and temperatures, our PAT visits will pivot to virutal, using Zoom or phone calls for those without reliable interet. We will do porch drop-offs of materials for the parent-child activity and handouts ahead of time.
We miss seeing you! We're looking forward to spring weather when we can again do outside driveway visits again.
This is a year like no other. Check out the safety protocols we've put in place for our program. These are subject to change, as we continue to seek guidance from our county health department.
