State Testing - 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grade
All 3rd through 6th grade students in Oregon will take the SBAC Math and ELA test and 5th grade will also take the OSAS Science test. Our testing window will be April 25th through June 3rd. Each grade level will have one week for testing and students are expected to attend on site Monday through Thursday. Friday will be reserved for any students who need to finish their test(s). Masks will be optional during state testing, but students will be a minimum of 3 feet apart.
This is a required assessment, however, if you wish to not have your child participate in state testing this year, please complete the opt out forms online at https://assessmentoptout.hsd.k12.or.us/home/ExemptionRights. Remember that 3rd through 6th are taking the ELA and Math with 5th grade ALSO taking the Science. If you have difficulty with the above website, please contact us.
Your child's teacher will be sending out the testing week for their grade level. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Francom, Assistant Principal, francomb@hsd.k12.or.us.
Need help with a class? Tired of looking at the same 4 walls?
Come chat with teachers, ask questions about classes or assignments, or just relax on our comfy chairs & rugs! The stage, in the Gym, is open Mondays & Tuesdays 10:00 AM-2:00 PM and Wednesdays 9:00 AM-2:00 PM!

Elementary Student Showcase
We are so excited to have an Elementary Student Showcase on April 21st!
Your child's teacher will be sending information in their newsletters about how your child can submit a photo, writing, video or any other media to the showcase. We are looking for one piece from every student that highlights something they are proud of. That could be a writing piece, a math paper, a photo of a piece of artwork, a video of a dance performance, the possibilities are endless and don't have to be a piece of schoolwork.
Please submit your child's entry into the showcase to their teacher by April 18th. On April 21st, all families will have access to a slideshow to view all the entries and see how wonderful our HOA community is!
Mark-up
I recorded a video today for my math students, and it occurs to me that it might be useful for some of the rest of you too. It goes over how to take a screenshot and mark it up using one of the HSD Lenovo Chromebooks in tablet mode.

In person P.E. is back!
My name is Kevin Hehn and I am the P.E. teacher here at HOA, I am very excited to start up in person P.E. again and get to know all the students. I grew up and graduated from the Hillsboro school district so it’s amazing to be teaching here.
Starting next week (4/11 - 4/15) HOA will be providing in person P.E. twice a week at the elementary level. The schedule is posted on our school's calendar! P.E. classes help students develop skill and confidence, maintain physical fitness, learn about personal health and wellness, and demonstrate positive social skills.
Starting on 04/23, the gym will be hosting state testing and therefore we will be doing P.E. outdoors until the testing finishes up. Please make sure starting on that date your student has weather appropriate clothing and footwear. P.E. will also be weather dependent when outdoors and we will try to give as much notice as possible.
For student drop off, please drop off on 3rd Ave at the front entrance of the gym. Pickup will be at the same location starting at 1:50pm, 2:50pm, and 3:50pm respectively.
