Inspire LOVE Community Service Project
We are excited to invite you to join Inspire as we show foster kids some love, just in time for Valentine’s Day. We are planning to make, fill, and donate “journey bags” to a local foster care agency. These bags, which are simple to sew and fill, will be given to foster kids to keep as their very own.
You can participate by sewing bags, donating items to fill the bags, or coming to the packing party.
Great News for Readers - Inspire Now Offers Accelerated Reader
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computer program that helps parents manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child selects a book rather than having one assigned to them and reads it at their own pace. This makes reading a much more enjoyable experience as they can choose books that are interesting to them. They may also read articles of interest right on the screen. When finished, your child will take a short quiz on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.) In addition, when an LP meeting comes up, you can easily print up the list of books that your child read, and share it with your HST.
The AR program keeps track of all the books your child takes quizzes on and provides motivators like points or filling a sunflower with color. Every book that has an AR Reading Practice Quiz is given a point value. AR points are based on the difficulty and length of the book (number of words). There are over 140,000 AR quizzes available. With the AR Program, you can create reading goals for your child.
Visit the AR Bookfind Website to check out the types of books they have have quizzes for.
Acting Classes with Professional Actors
Is your student an actor or possibly just looking for ways to build self confidence? Then this amazing acting class may be perfect for them!!
The Kids Acting Class' Winter Session-Venice, CA, is starting back up!
Inspire students have traveled long distances to attend these classes, so even though Venice is a long drive from the counties we serve in Inspire Central, we are bringing the information to you!
During our, just completed, Fall session young actors from far and wide worked with guest teacher Lexi Ainsworth (2017 Emmy Award-winning actress and former homeschooler) and guest teacher Amy Lord (actress, playwright, theatrical agent) to broaden their theatrical skills!!
