RSVP: Spring 2021 Virtual Open House for Parents & Students

To better serve our partner districts, we’re hosting multiple Launch Virtual Open House sessions for parents and students. These sessions are designed to help Launch students, parents and families prepare for their upcoming spring 2021 Launch courses. Attendees will learn more about Launch, have the opportunity to ask Launch-related questions, and learn tips and tricks for how to best support students in our courses. The elementary open house session is Tuesday, January 5, from 6-7 p.m., and the middle and high school open house session is Thursday, January 7, from 6-7 p.m. Here is the link to follow if you would like to attend.

Sexual Abuse Training

Missouri Statute 170.045, effective Aug 28, 2019, requires schools to provide trauma-informed developmentally appropriate sexual abuse training starting in the school year 2020-21 and each year thereafter to all grades 6-12. The school district training must include the following:

  1. Instruction providing students with the knowledge and tools to recognize sexual abuse.

  2. Instruction providing students with the knowledge and tools to report an incident of sexual abuse.

  3. Actions that a student who is a victim of sexual abuse could take to obtain assistance and intervention.

  4. Available resources for students affected by sexual abuse.

This training will be provided by the district social workers beginning on January 12th. Parents or guardians have the right to have their child excused from the instruction. Please provide a written request to your child’s school counseling office no later than January 8th to have your child excused from this instruction.

As parents of a Fulton Public Schools student, you should receive regular communication from your child's building as well as from the District via email. The District sends out a newsletter, the Fulton Focus, weekly or bi-weekly. This newsletter contains important information each time for you and your student.

Information to Keep in Mind

Whether We Like It or Not, Winter Weather is on the Way!

School Closing Information
Winter weather will be here before we know it, and the Fulton Public Schools are preparing for the inevitable snow day. Officials consider many things when making decisions on inclement weather days; however, the final decision is always determined by what is best for the students. Student safety is the top priority of our school district.

Cancellation of School

As soon as the decision is made to cancel school, the district will launch the School Messenger phone messaging system to call the home or cell number you have provided the school upon enrollment of your child (if during the school day, an email and text message will be sent--not a phone call.) Please make sure this information is correct in our system. The district will also notify TV stations KOMU - channel 8, KRCG - channel 13, and KMIZ - channel 17. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT ASKS PARENTS OR GUARDIANS NOT TO CALL SCHOOLS OR TELEVISION STATIONS ABOUT THE CANCELLATION OF SCHOOL. The website address – www.fulton58.org - will be updated with early dismissal and cancellation notices as well as Facebook--Fulton Public Schools and Twitter-- @FPSHornets.

Early Dismissal

Occasionally, school will be dismissed early due to bad weather. If an early dismissal is required, an announcement will be made that school will be dismissed a specific number of hours early from the building’s normal dismissal time. School buses will run beginning at the dismissal time announced on those days school is canceled in midday.

Buses Running on Snow Routes
