Hi HPE families!
I can't believe we only have a few weeks left in the school year! I wanted to share even more tips on how you can incorporate social emotional learning into your home!
- Use affective statements to promote emotional language. For example, "I am proud to see that you are sharing the toys today." Adults can also help to calm children when we "notice" a smile, new haircut, pair of shoes, or an activity or experience.
- Encourage children to ask questions when they are unclear or need support and teach students the skills required to take personal responsibility.
- Give children options when there are decisions to be made so not to overwhelm them with too many options.
I hope you have an amazing weekend! As always, please reach out if you have any needs!

HPE Student Council
Student Council
HPE Student Council will be participating in a cereal drive to support Fishers Youth Assistance. Throughout the week of May 10 - 14 we will be collecting cereal boxes to donate to the Fishers Youth Assistance Program’s Summer Meals. Share your favorite cereal with others in need. The cereal boxes will need to have at least 11 servings. No single serving boxes please. Each time a student donates a box of cereal, they will receive a sticker to wear that day. Please see attached flyer for more information!
Please watch this short video to learn more!
Support Our Library
Birthday books with donor plates are also available. You can purchase at any time, even if your child's birthday has passed. Students love seeing their name and friends' names in books in the library.
Click here to donate! Thank you for your support!

Easy Ways to Help the PTO
Cut your Box Tops for Education and send them to school with your student at any time. Visit www.boxtops4education.com for a list of products.
If you shop on Amazon or at Kroger, check out these completely free and zero effort ways to raise money for the HPE PTO. The prices are the same, the service is the same, you shop the same way, but a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the PTO, that’s it!
On Amazon, just go to smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0114174 to link your account to the PTO and then check out using smile.amazon.com everytime--you cannot access this through an app so fill up your cart and then open a browser to check out or shop directly on smile.amazon.com.
For Kroger, login to your online account or create one using the Kroger Plus Card number you already have or get a new one. Then go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards and enroll in Community Rewards. Search for “VA241” and select “HARRISON PARKWAY ELEMENTARY - PTO.” Then scan your Kroger Plus Card or enter your alternate ID every time you check out just like you always have.
