What Happened Last Week

  1. Unit Test: Students completed the Earth's Surface Unit Test on Tuesday (12/9). Scores have been added to PowerSchool for your review.
  2. Introduction to Relative Age of Rock Layers: To finish the week, students explored how scientists determine the relative age of sedimentary rock layers. Many students seemed to be grasping these concepts quickly and were successfully answering challenging practice questions.

Relative Age Table Drawing Activity

Students were excited to draw on the lab tables using neon dry erase markers. What an experience to draw on the desks!

What to Expect this Week

  1. Relative Age of Rock Layers: Students will continue to practice determining the relative age of rock layers. To explore this concept, students will develop their own cross-sections by drawing on the lab tables with dry erase markers and work with their group members on additional practice questions. Check out examples of student developed cross-sections in the pictures above!

Special Note: This week started off with quite the absence list! Should your student be absent this week, please note that all vocabulary terms have been added to Quizlet for studying and students have their notes and practice questions to review for the quiz. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.
