A message from Nutrition Services
In addition, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (HR 6201) authorized state agencies to issue additional food assistance funds to families who would have received these meal benefits during the school year even if households are not currently receiving funds via EBT cards. We expect more information about this benefit to be shared by our state agency partners in the very near future.
If your household’s income has been affected by a reduction in hours, layoff, or furlough, please complete the attached forms at your earliest convenience. Completed forms may printed, scanned, or photographed with a mobile phone, and emailed to nutrition@usd231.com for processing. You may also complete the application online by logging in to Skyward Family Access under the Food Service tab. Paper copies of applications will also be available at all meal distribution sites upon request.
Important note: Approval for free/reduced meals is NOT required to receive curbside meals being distributed at any of our district sites. All children ages 1-18 are welcome to pick up a meal kit for free.
Lastly, if your students are approved for free or reduced-price meals by May 20, meal benefits will also carry through to the first 30 days of the 2020-2021 school year. Nutrition Services is here to assist your family during this difficult and uncertain time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with questions.
KSDE Annual Conference Art Design Contest
All Kansas K-12 students are invited to participate in a contest to design art for the 31st Annual KSDE Annual Conference which will be held October 21-23, 2020 in Wichita, Kansas. This contest encourages students to use their creativity by entering artwork in the KSDE Annual Conference Art Design Contest using the theme of Kansans CAN: Soar! With school buildings being closed, this could be an opportunity for a student art project for them to work on during their continuous learning while they’re at home.
The contest is open to all students in Kansas K-12 schools, both public and private, with a winner being selected in each of the following grade level divisions:
- Grades K-4
