ACCREDITED AND STEM CERTIFIED COLLEGE PREP GIFTED SCHOOL
Week of March 23, 2020
Principal's Corner
Dear FSA Community,
We hope that everyone is doing well. As faculty and administration, we miss all of you so much.
As you know, last week Governor Kemp ordered the closure of schools for three weeks. This will mean that we will continue Cyber School until Spring Break. As announced earlier our Spring Break will be April 6-10, 2020. As this time, we do not know if Cyber School will continue after Spring Break or not. As we hear from the Governor's office, Federal Government, WHO, and CDC, we will be able to quickly inform you about the status of our Cyber School.
During this time, our goal is to provide you a quality and engaging Cyber School experience. On the bright side, this is a great learning experience for all of us. I hope you enjoy your experience as much as we do.
Today, I have some good news for you. Yes, we are in Cyber School but we have some good developments happening at our campus. First of all, please see some recent pictures from our campus expansion here.

What are Office Hours?
Cyber School is new to everyone. It can be hard and even feel impossible to ask your teachers questions when you don’t understand something. Even if you feel like this, your teachers are here to help! Office Hours are a time when you can talk with your teachers to get some answers to questions you might have had all day, or even all week. Spend some extra time with your teachers, asking questions, so you can feel confident about what you have learned!
How Are FSA Students Learning During Cyber School
Science Teacher, Mr. Sabin gave his Life Science class a close up look into the eruption of Mt. St. Helens! Students were learning about successive rejuvenation after major damage to biomes. Mr. Sabin talked about the Mt. St. Helen's eruption in 1980 then "flew" his class around and into the crater in an advanced flight sim helicopter to show them the scale! Look for more on this story next week on Mustang News!
We are thrilled that our teachers are still able to provide enriching education during this time and we love seeing their creativity in this new style of Cyber School!
Learning Via Zoom
From learning about the life cycle of a mealworm and the parts of an insect as part of the Insects and Plants unit for FOSS Science, complete with class presentations! Engineering was not to be outdone, from creative leprechaun traps to kindergarteners showed off to their class the catapults they built. FSA students even though they are cyber or online...they are in class following a normal school day from basically 8 am to 3 pm. Even PreK stepped it up with career day as An artist,an archaeologist, a rockstar and a police officer, joined class. While in 6th Grade ELA with Ms. Meyers students showed off their Haiku display. Students and teachers are extremely engaged in cyber classes but it doesn’t stop here. High schoolers are also continuing with their College prep as College reps are also joining in via zoom conferencing for their college prep time. Counsellors are also checking in and offering tips on how to navigate cyber school in a healthy manner.
