General News!
Week of February 1st-5th:
As we get closer to the progress report for this quarter, please help your student monitor their PowerSchool accounts, and see their teachers if there are questions or concerns. This is their responsibility if they need to make up any missing assignments, or need a little extra help. We are all here each morning from 6:50-7:15. All they need to do is ask one of us to sign their agenda book the day before. It is a great way to stay on track, or even catch up!
Some students are coming to class daily without the basics...paper, pencils, erasers, etc We are happy to help out when we can, but many of them simply choose not to come prepared...please ask your child if they are bringing all they need to class each day.
Upcoming Dates to Remember:
No School- President's Day Holiday, February 15th

Language Arts- Ms. Waxman
This week in reading/writing we are spending quite a bit of time responding to literature. The students are still utilizing the RACE formula with their short constructed response questions, but will also be reviewing the process when writing an extended constructed response. This week they are finishing up a "friendly letter" from Bruno, our main character, to one of the friends he had to say goodbye to in Berlin.
The "Art Connection" project that they work on last week proved that we have quite a few artists who were able to bring the words from our novel to life!
Our set of root words for "Just Asking", will be quizzed on this Wednesday. It
includes: quer, ques, quir, quis, and rog, all meaning to ask or seek. The StudyStack link is available for them in their Google classroom.
TweenTribune is in week 4, February 1st through the 7th by noon.
Math- Mrs. Holloway
This week in Mathematics:
This week we are continuing with Unit 5-Linear Functions. Students will have homework each night. Tomorrow students will be getting a mini-project that will be due Monday. Our Mastery Assessment is next Wednesday, February 10th. Students should be looking over graphic organizers and notes to prepare. My website is www.tinyurl.com/hollowaymath8. I try to post our homework on the sight, any notes or graphic organizers we’ve worked on and vocabulary. It is the first year I am using it so if you go to the website and see no homework listed, please feel free to email me. I am still trying to remember to get it to the website. If you have any problems, please feel free to email. Looking forward to a great week. Please remind your student that they are to have a notebook AND pencil every day for class.
