Important Reminders
The Katy ISD Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is completing the 2018-2020 Safety & Security Audit of the district with the support of the Texas School Safety Center and as required by the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas. The OEM requires your assistance to participate in this audit as a teacher and staff member at Katy ISD. The following survey is meant to explore your needs pertaining to school safety and services available before, during, and after a crisis event. It is intended to describe your environment to your administrators and identify trends and methods to improve our overall district safety and security. No specific results on an individual or campus will be recorded or used in the audit, only the concerns and recommendations will be recorded to inform our district’s way ahead. It is estimated that this survey will take about 15 minutes of your time. We ask that you please conduct this survey before 18 March, 2020. Follow this link to the Survey: https://surveyhero.com/c/65ba502d Again, your answers are confidentially recorded and will be reported in aggregate so as to not identify any participant’s responses. Your name, email address, IP address, or any other identifying information will not be shared.
- The District Student Transfer application for the 2020-2021 school year will be available on March 16, 2020. Current Katy ISD employees who want their children to attend the campus closest to their worksite, have a deadline and must submit their children’s transfer applications by May 21, 2020. Employees hired after May 21, 2020 will have one month from their date of hire to submit their children’s transfer applications. The transfer application will be available on our Student Transfers webpage: Student Transfers
- Do you want a jeans pass? If you post a photo of your class using a Lead4Ward learning strategy on social media with the hash tag #PAWSitivePanthers2020 and @lead4ward, you will get on in your mailbox. I use these photos in our weekly story. Just take photos of children looking away from camera so you don't have to check permissions.
- Are you running late to work? Please make sure you contact your appraiser in the morning.
- As a part of your summative TTESS data, you will need to observe at least two other teachers and complete and upload the Observation form into Eduphoria Strive. Deadline is April 3rd.
- This is a reminder, our spring parties this year will be on March 5th and 6th. Raptor Letter was sent out this week. If a parent wants to have a relative attend the party, please let the office know. We understand parents work and sometimes only another relative can attend. As long as it is written on the Raptor letter by the parent , we will approve those requests. We will not allow any siblings, including babies, to attend. Each students can only have up to two visitors total.
- Reminder about absences, we cannot approve personal business absences on the day before or after a holiday. We also need two school days prior to submitting a personal business day.
- We are working on developing the Celebrations of Learning for third quarter so we can celebrate our students for making great grades and achieving their goals. We will have the next COL in April. Please be think about two students from your homeroom class who have worked really hard demonstrating the growth mindset this year and deserve to be selected as your Panther Goal Getter for the first quarter. If want to nominate them, please share the reason with them and ask them if it is ok to share the reason with their grade level and school. I will send out the nomination form in March.
- Reminder about planned absences, please submit your request on the absence form (http://bit.do/MPEAbsence) before entering it in to Aesop.
Step It Up School Fundraiser
If a child reports they did not get their two prizes, please email Alejandra Hernandez. We will get them delivered to your classroom.
Last year, we had children impacted by the heat on the Day of Awesomeness. Please encourage them to drink lots of the water during the week of March 16-20th. If you will also remind them to dress for the weather. They will have water available, however, they should bring their own water bottles.
