Building Bridges...
becoming "a Church that has left the building."
Poverty Conference. Friday, November 8th. 8:30-11:30 am.
It's not too late to sign up for this Friday's FREE Poverty Conference at Bradley University.
Our friends at South Side Mission, Dream Center Peoria and Peoria Rescue Ministries are teaming up to host the 2019 Poverty in Peoria Conference. This free event will be held in the Michel Student Center at Bradley University.
More than 23,000 of Peoria's 111,000 residents live below the poverty line. (That's 20.9%, compared to the national average of 13.4%.) And here's a stunner I learned this week: 30% of the students at Dunlap Valley Middle School live below the poverty line!
The need to address poverty is literally in our backyards.
The Poverty Conference will help attendees learn what poverty is, and how to address more than just symptoms. Dr. Brian Fikkert, is the nationally renowned author of "When Helping Hurts" and "Becoming Whole." He will be speaking on an innovative definition of poverty, how we see our community, and how to rethink our approach to poverty alleviation and see lives and our communities flourish.
Contact the church office (or register on your own) if you would like to attend.

Dunlap Kiwanis forming
An informational / organizational meeting will be held TONIGHT (Wednesday, November 6th) at 6:00 at Knuckles' Pizza. I plan to attend, and all are invited to join this meeting.
Kiwanis International is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time. Today, Kiwanis International has more than 550,000 members from K-Kids to Key Club to Kiwanis in 80 different countries and geographic areas. Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the needs of children, such as fighting hunger, improving literacy and offering guidance.
YMCA Teen Reach & Breakfast with Jesus (teen edition)...coming soon!?!?
The next 2 months will also bring familiar opportunities to partner with Chaddock Children's Home (child adoption for Christmas presents), South Side Mission's Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, Salvation Army Bell Ringing and our own Food Pantry Christmas Baskets.
I'm excited about these opportunities to help Prospect Grow DEEP and Reach WIDE for Jesus, and hope you are, too!
