I Wonder...

How did the art of acting begin

The word theater

" The word theater comes from the Greeks. It means the seeing place. It is the place people come to see the truth about life and the social situation. The theater is a spiritual and social X-ray of it's time. The theater was created to tell pepole the truth about life and the social situation"

Women, the Greeks, the Romans and plays

"The Romans were inspired by Greek art, culture and theater and wrote Latin versions of Greek plays. Comedy plays were more popular than tradagies. In Roman plays slaves served as actors. Unlike Greek plays women were permitted to appear on stage but they did not play important roles".

Ancient Egyptians, the Greeks and the Romans

William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare's writing is the second most quoted after the Bible. William Shakespeare produced 37 plays and 154 sonnets, among the most popular are Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet and MacBeth. "The Globe Theatre in England also known as the Shakespeare Globe Theatre was not only one of most famous playhouse’s of all time, but the play house where Shakespeare performed many of his greatest plays". It was built in 1598 and still stands to this very day, although it burnt down when a cannon was fired and hit the roof of the building and the roof caught on fire but one year after it burnt down it was rebuilt and still stands to this very day. Often the actors would get their lines as they were performing, a person would be backstage whispering each one to them. Acting was not considered to be a respectable career for women.

How did the art of acting begin

"Acting began in Athens around 534 B.C. While attending a public festival, the bard Thespis jumped onto a wooden cart and read poetry while pretending he was the character in the poetry. This was the first known time that someone spoke words as a character for entertainment".

The drama masks

The drama masks represent comedy and tragedy the two main types of plays.

I wonder that because...

I wonder that because i'm passionate of acting, I'm in a Charlie Brown play and I play the role of Marcie. I also take acting classes with my friends, I like acting because you can be who you want to be. You have the freedom to create the character and their personality. I wanted to know who was the genius that created the art of acting.
