St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 9 | 10 DECEMBER 2020
At the end of this school year we give thanks to God: For all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our school, both in and out of the classroom, For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced; For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed; For the respect and care that has been given. We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown. For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles, For the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days And for the love that has kept us going. We give thanks for the community that we are, and we ask you Lord - Bless our students, may your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness Bless our families as we take our holidays, may our time together leave us with memories to cherish. Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together .
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen

Many thanks to Monsignor O’Loughlin, Mr Popadynec and Miss Purvis for organising our end of year Thanksgiving Mass. It was a very moving occasion with the announcement of the student leaders for 2021 and the hand over from the 2020 student leaders to the 2021 student leaders. Apologies to Bridie Celedin and Amanda Real who were inadvertently left out of the Leaders 2021 announcement.
Congratulations to all Year 5 students who nominated for positions. The school looks forward to the Year 6 class of 2021 leading by example. It was also the last time the 2021 Year 6 class will attend Mass in the church as a class group. A big thank you to all the parents and carers who made time to attend the Mass.

I would like to thank the school community for the support shown last Friday night for the Student Carols Night. There was a huge turn out and the students sang beautifully thanks to the efforts of Mrs McDonald and Mr Moore. It was a wonderful community night.
To those families who are leaving St. Columba’s, we thank you for your help and support throughout your time here and I wish you God’s blessings with your future endeavours.
St Columba’s staff are also to be acknowledged for their hard work and commitment to our students throughout 2021. Many hours outside of school hours are given by the staff in preparing lessons for the students.
Congratulations to all students for their efforts and achievements over the year. These endeavours were reflected in the students’ reports being available for viewing from tonight.
The school Board and P&F are to be commended and thanked for the work they have put into supporting the school community throughout 2021.
A special thank you to the office staff Mrs Jenaway, Mrs Creek, Mrs Foster and Mrs Griffin who are the quiet achievers with the amount of work they manage to get through in a week.
Thank you to the many volunteers who have helped with school activities throughout the year. Your help is very much appreciated. It is this help and involvement that gives St. Columba’s such a great community spirit. A special thank you must go to Maria and Rita and the regular volunteers in the canteen and who provide valuable assistance each week.

Please note, Term Four concludes for students tomorrow. School resumes for students, on Monday February 1, 2021.
